Gunday Music Review

Gunday's music score tries a little too hard to keep to the "action adventure" genre. As a result, it tends to get a bit repetitive. This Ali Abbas Zafar movie will also have a complete set of Bengali scores by Bappi Lahiri as the movie is set to release in Bengali too. The Hindi music direction has been done by Sohail Sen. Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor compliment the music by the rogue' factor that they add to the screen. We also find Irshad Kamil's work at the lyrics. Whether he keeps up to the expectations from a lyricist of his stature is for listeners to decide.

Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in a still from Gunday

Gunday - Gunday Music Review

The title track comes with a rap contributed by Kinga Rhymes. In simple terms it is melody imagery for the two lead characters and has that element of 1970s gallant-thieves-with-a-conscience lining the lyrics. Sohail Sen himself has lend his voice to this number.

Rhythm of Jashn-e-Ishq - Gunday Music Review

There was hardly any need for this added track. It would be nice if the instrumental was pleasing but it somehow manages to fall back safely on being bland yet listenable for at least once. Of course, once on screen, it will surely add that element of charisma to a dramatic scene.

Asalaam-e-Ishqum - Gunday Music Review

Neha Bhasin and Bappi Lahiri add that retro touch to this number that you will quite enjoy. Our assumption is both Bikram and Bala, the names of Ranveer and Arjun's characters in Gunday will add temperament to this number once on screen.

Tune Maari Entriyaan - Gunday Music Review

This is definitely the song to watch out for. The web comes with 3 versions of this number, a Bengali one, a classical one and a rap themed one. However we can't vouch for which of them are originals, yet they do prove that this one has been an instant catcher. Credits for vocals go to KK, Neeti Mohan, Vishal Dadlani and Bappi Lahiri.

Jiya - Gunday Music Review

With the release date set for the 14th of February, this romantic score is bound to be loved by many a fans especially for the soothing lyrics. Arijit Singh on vocals does it again when it comes to reaching out to those fluffy emotions.

Saaiyaan - Gunday Music Review

Shahid Mallya lends his voice to this number. It is a song about the complaints in love and does not really introduce ground breaking lyrics but for a few times, it is not that bad to listen to either. However, it will end up reminding you of many a trademark Bollywood numbers of recent times.

Mann Kunto Maula - Gunday Music Review

This one comes in two versions. Original and classical one. But we'd say the classical enchants more than the original one. It is not just simply pleasant to listen to but also lends an antique feel to the entire album. It is based on a poem by Amir Khusro. The Original version boasts of some great strumming and Altamash Faridi and Shadab Faridi reach out with fantastic vocals.

Jashn-e-Ishqa - Gunday Music Review

Shadab Faridi, Javed Ali makes this a good all-male number but more than even that, this number adds the energy and celebration of all emotions that makes love accomplished. When it's all gloomy around you, this one is the song to listen to. We love the beats for not trying to be too loud, but just subtly cheerful.

The Last Word - Gunday Music Review

With a lot of new voices, Irshad Kamil with the pen, this album promises to not just vanish away into the colossal line of Bollywood music mishaps. Of course, how well the movie does is bound to have some impact on the final fate of the numbers.
