Did Rani Mukerji & Abhishek Bachchan Ever Date?

Several years ago, there were many who thought that Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji would make a good couple, perhaps judging by their on-screen chemistry in films like Yuva and Bunty Aur Babli. There were even rumours of them being in a relationship, although there was no real confirmation, which is why MissMalini reader Ishan asked Industrywalla recently whether the two were dating. Here's what Industrywalla spilled to us.

MissMalini reader Ishan asked: Did Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan ever date each other?

Industrywalla: Yes, this has been one of the least talked about secret affairs of our times. Abhishek and Rani had a roaring affair during Yuva, and were more than just friends (or co-stars!) during the shoot of the Mani Ratnam film.

However, this was a totally mismatched couple, which was one of the reasons why their relationship did not last for very long. Rani, for example, loved eating golgappas at her suburban joints, while Abhishek preferred his favourite Italian cuisine in a 5 star restaurant. The two had very different likes and dislikes, and very little in common.

Also, Abhishek's mom, Jaya Bachchan, wasn't too fond of Rani. She found her to be too brash and loud to be a Bachchan bahu. In fact, when things started getting serious, she told Bachchan junior to draw the line and maintain his distance. As a result, the two had a bad break up... so much so that Rani wasn't even invited for the big wedding (which she never seemed too happy about - in an interview in 2011, this is what the actress remarked when asked about Abhishek's wedding: "The truth is that if a person chooses not to invite you to their wedding, you realise where you stand with the person.").

However, with time, the two have managed to leave the past behind and let their bad memories be buried deep. Now, of course, Abhishek is married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, while Rani is seeing Aditya Chopra.

is this a new article? who cares about this at this point in time. Is abhishek trying to be in news for whichever reason possible?

It would be more interesting if they talked about why Mummy dearest didn't want Rani. It can't be only because she's loud. And Abhi is such a loser in this regard. He always listens to his mom

they weren't dating during Yuvi. IF they dated i think it was during BnB but even then nothing has been confirmed.

Abhishek had flings with Rani, Priyanka, and other actresses/starlets when he was single. He partied and dated around like most single men. I'm not sure why the media are bringing up old news.
