Dhoom 3 Grosses Has 65 Crore Second Week

Dhoom 3 grossed 65 crore nett approx in week two taking its two week total to 239 crore nett. The second week collections were a record and is one of the more significant records of Dhoom 3 as the second week record of Three Idiots was a long standing record.

The initial records are always there for the taking for an event film and they change every 6-12 months but the second week record had stood for four years and finally Dhoom 3 beat and by a decent margin of 9 crore nett approx. The film has chances of a 275 crore nett final nett gross.

The film will also dominate the market this week as there is no strong competition.

SRK is number one going by overall record. But it is something if top two movies in top overseas grossers lists are of other star and that too someone who was not considered having saleability overseas earlier. SRK, his fans and PR have always harped on his unrivalled supremacy overseas and at times some trade analysts even said it was only SRK movies that did any business of note in overseas markets. He is also the only star who promotes himself and his movies extensively abroad and connects regularly with overseas audience through concerts and other events. Whereas Aamir Khan never promoted films like 3 Idiots abroad (Dhoom 3 made news during its shooting. Only Lagaan and few other AKP films were promoted abroad by Aamir) yet his films are on top. That is a jolt for SRK for sure.
He was called undisputed badshah overall. That bit cooled off when Aamir and Salman had golden run from 2008 and he was down in India rankings. Still he (or his fans/PR) could claim he was undisputed overseas. But even the "undisputed" status in that arena is gone now.

SRK may be huge in overall record and even bigger if other factors like celeb's wealth, net worth etc. are considered but purely in terms of movies, he is lagging behind his arch rivals now. Not just challenged. Tide has turned for him. He is only playing catch up with records of others.

The undisputed badshah thing is no longer true. At least not the undisputed bit.

Dhoom 3 Makes A Dash Towards 300 Crore Mark | 2nd Week Box Office Collections

Mahabharat-3D just couldn't score in its Week One as it was Dhoom 3 weave all the way in its second week as well. After getting a minimal release, Mahabharat-3D wasn't helped by the reviews either. All of this meant that the collections were pretty much negligible and the film could barely manage to complete one week at the box office. The film is hardly running in cinema halls now and curtains on one of the most ambitious animated films coming out of the Hindi film industry further puts question on the animation market in India.

On the other hand Dhoom 3 continued to break records and a hugely superb second week saw yet another record being broken, that of the kind of moolah that 3 Idiots raked in. That Rajkumar Hirani directed film had scored 56 crores in its second week and Dhoom 3 has now surpassed it by a distance, what with around 68 crore coming in. The Vijay Krishna Acharya directed film has now netted around 253.50 crores in two weeks (including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions).

The way the film is going, it is all set to cross the 275 crore mark and be a Blockbuster on the way. However by some stroke of luck, the combined collections with Tamil and Telugu version along with an extended run could even bring Dhoom 3 strikingly close to the 300 crore mark.

This one is going to be a keenly awaited milestone.
