There are very few people in this world, especially women, who would never be affected by everyone around them saying they're ugly or not good looking. Your mentors tell you that, top director/producers tell you that, and on top of that when you go online to see what people say about you, they are even harsher about your looks. As a celeb, it's true that you put yourself up for that kind of scrutiny and eventually you have to learn to deal with it, but that doesn't mean it won't affect you...especially in an industry where most women get roles based on their looks or connections. Guys are usually less affected by their looks and people's comments on them. ...anyways, they can get work on their talent.

Anushka was very very young when she showed up in BW. She was an outsider, didn't really get much recognition, was confused, plus everyone around her says things like that. Its no surprise or wonder she let it get to her. I wish she had had more faith in herself...she had a beautiful smile that could light up any room. Hopefully she has learned that she is better than that and will gain more confidence. This was a nice interview! I think the year long break or so has been good for her..She has a good line up of films so hopefully they work out. Nh10 sounds interesting!

I feel bad for her... but honestly, celebs get harsh comments all the time. She should have more willpower. It's hard being in he limelight 24/7 but hey, this is what you get for being a star.

Unfortunately if people understood this, they still wouldn't be asking why she let it get to herself, or cared about what others said, or didn't believe in herself 😊 Many people are maybe ignorant or would rather choose to turn a blind eye to the sociological climate and scripts of the world we live in. It's always easier to turn around and ask the kid who's been bullied why he never believed in himself or stood up for himself...or even look down on how he crumbled under pressure because he 'should've been stronger.' She's insecure, she reads what people say, she changed herself because of that...? Well, it's something to look down on and how very...non-understandable.

Most people in our society are instinctively inclined to be condescending...even in pity. Quite sad...but that's the way the world works.

I loved everything you said. How easy it is to say "she should have been more secure..." . How many of us are? Especially when it comes to girls and how they look. In my family i see so many girls being told by well meaning relatives to lose weight/become fair etc etc. From desi nuskhas to cosmetic procedures, everybody feels the need to comment on how a girl looks. Magnify that by a million times for a twenty year old outsider in a vicious cut throat industry and it will make your head spin.

That's horrible.

I feel sorry for this girl. Really want PK and Bombay Velvet to work in her favour for she's a good actress

People said I'm ugly. It used to bother me a lot. There's this site pinkvilla.com. They put up pictures and the haters write really nasty stuff. Earlier I used to get upset but now I deal with it. When you are happy about yourself then you don't care.

Wow, she actually took the name of the site also!😲 I often used to wonder whether these celebrities like to browse online forums to gauge audience reaction/reception towards them, I mean, anyone would want to know what people think about your work right? Finally someone admitted it and also that all the super nasty stuff people put up was hurtful to say the least. It's BUT natural! One actor (I'm forgetting right now who it was, but it was some A league actor) said it very rightly that there's too much negativity on these networking sites like twitter, a lot of people join twitter just to pass disgusting remarks on celebrities rather than follow/interact with the ones they like. It's one thing to criticize/give your opinion and one thing to just let loose with totally uncalled for comments.

This was a good interview. Anushka's interviews always come out as very honest to me, for some reason. I liked what she said about having a production company and fishing out roles she would like to do. Hope NH10 works out for her!

It's not just about Pinkvilla. Trash is written about celebrities everywhere. On twitter, on FB (hate pages are made against celebs), even on IF.
