There's a nice little rivalry brewing up between Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. If you happened to watch last week's Koffee with Karan, you couldn't have missed Ranbir's jibes pointed at the Ram-Leela star. In fact, throughout the episode, Ranbir maintained a zen-like- good-bachcha- stance, preferring to let cousin Kareena Kapoor make the scandalous statements. It was only during the hilarious Kapoor Family quiz, and when the topic veered to Ranveer that Ranbir seemed like his old fun n' risqu self.

When Karan asked him what would he do if he woke up as Ranveer Singh, Ranbir mimicked Ranveer's signature hair step of Tattad Tattad describing it as, "taking off my dandruff." He also confessed that he regretted not doing Band Baaja Baaraat, the film that gave us Ranveer. So, is Ranbir saying that if he had done the film, Ranveer wouldn't have happened? Ummm. The mind boggles with the subtext of Ranbir's confession.
Ranbir and Ranveer. Other than their similar sounding names, they were not even in the same space until now. The race, everybody believed, was between the Kapoor scion and Imran Khan. Ranveer was nowhere in the picture. He was just the overly exuberant outsider. Ranbir was the potential superstar right from his debut film, Saawariya. And in just six years Ranbir has proved his worth in gold. With his effortless talent and gutsy film choices, he's a superstar alright. As for Ranveer, who is just three-years-old in the movie business, with Lootera and Ram-Leela, he has shown his mettle.
While Ranbir is still notches ahead, Ranveer is turning out to be a tough contender. Slowly, the battle lines are being drawn. Ranveer was touted as the male lead of Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet but the film went to Ranbir. Interestingly, after he declined Band Baaja Baaraat, the powerful Mr Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films hasn't announced any new film with Ranbir (Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year was the last RK-YRF film). Ranveer, meanwhile, is the current YRF blue-eyed boy " his next two releases, Gunday and Kill Dill are both with the banner.
