"I am from Chandigarh and there was nothing glamorous about my life. It was all about school, oiled hair and pigtails. I am here because it was my destiny," says Yami definitively.
Destiny unfolds in miraculous ways. We've heard of stories like hers: a small-town girl preparing for the law entrance examination decides to audition for a television soap, is selected, bags plum projects, and eventually, makes it to Bollywood. For her debut as princess Bhairavi in NDTV Imagine's Raajkumar Aaryyan, Yami had to train in horse-riding and sword-fighting. Sounds unusually action-packed for an Indian soap! Yami says she's very choosy about her roles. "It was never about the glamour," she adds. Her breakout television role was in the soap Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam, aired on Colors, about inter-caste marriage in conservative Lucknow.
It got its beautiful female lead enough publicity. Yami is here to pursue bigger dreams- 70 mm in size. "I am very passionate about acting. I try to learn and understand more about this profession every day," she says.She acted in a couple of reggional movies before entering Bollywood with Vicky Donor. it was a huge hit ⭐️ .
After her first taste of success in films Yami has become so busy .She acted in a couple of bilingual films...Telugu and Tamil...Gauravam has released and Courier boy Kalyan is releasing in the begining of 2014.Her second Hindi movie Total Siyapaa with Ali Zafar is all ready for release. She has one more movie opposite Ajay Devgan which is in progress.
Life is certainly moving fast for Yami and she is keeping pace with it. There are social events, then my commitments, fashion events and future projects; everything is keeping me so busy. This is what happens when you are in showbiz," she says.Yami has won many awards for her first film.She has been on the jury for many awards too.So proud of her 😃
One of the actresses who have made a noticeable switch from television to 70 mm, Yami says it was an unplanned and effortless move. "I do value this shift and every moment is worth it. Still, somewhere, I did not work very hard to make this transition. Early in my life, I had made a policy that whatever I do should be content driven. I won't pick up assignments just for the heck of it. I applied the same benchmark in TV and that is why I did Vicky Donor. Creativity cannot be compromised," shares Yami.
Already a known face of many brands, Yami walked the ramp for fashion designers and jewellers. She feels being in showbiz has its own perks yet, still nothing is permanent. "I am just the face of a brand; it is the buyers who are the owners at the end of the day," she says.Our modest Yami has been ranked 12th in Times most desirable women 2012.She has been ranked 14th in the Timex cleb index 😃
Our Yami is a photographers delight.No wonder she is on the cover of so many magazines and has done so many photoshoots.She has been making public appearances at so many events.She has been the judge at the Retail Jewellers Awards and Femina Style Diva Awards.
Our Yami has a wonderful family who she is very close.
