It's like 10 am in India on a Friday morning. If the target audience is the youth, why would they be going to the theaters that early in the morning? Dont the youth in India have work/school to attend?
I actually never understood how shows could be houseful in the morning on a weekday?

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein

Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Imran Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Isha Gupta (special appearance)

Director: Punit Malhotra

It has two good looking actors, some pretty locations, cool-looking costumes, a few good songs and also some funny moments but the problem is that's all that's there in Punit Malhotra's Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan look good together in the film. And we all know that getting the right actors is one of the most important requirements when one is making a rom-com. Another important aspect is to get the right look but since it's a Dharma Production that is obviously taken care of.

Saurabh Dwivedi's review

Imran Khan plays Sriram Venkat, a selfish city boy who can't think beyond himself. His worried parents want him to settle down, so the next best bet is to push him into an arranged marriage and hoping that may set his life on track. Sriram is introduced to Vasudha (Shradha Kapoor) who he likes at first sight but she doesn't want him to say yes to the arranged proposal because she loves someone else. Sriram starts narrating his ex girlfriend, Dia's (Kareena Kapoor Khan) story to her.

Dia wants to contribute to the world, she is an active social worker and that's the only thing on her mind all the time. After bumping into her when she is in action, they both start seeing each other. Obviously since they are totally different from each other, there is bound to be a conflict. Sorry to break your heart but all the fun parts are only before the interval.

Post interval Dia has moved to a village where she helps villagers and is satisfied with her simple village life, Sriram obviously wants her back and hence he goes all the way to the village. Dia won't leave till a bridge is constructed over a river that links the village to the more developed parts, so far the villagers have been using a make-shift bridge made of rope.

Obviously rom-coms shouldn't be taken very seriously, so I won't do that either and to be fair, this one does entertain in parts. Kareena Kapoor Khan steals the show, her character is well written and she keeps you entertained throughout by doing her job convincingly. Imran suits the role, he has tried hard and it has worked to a certain extent. He plays the city boy very well but it's tough for him to pull off the over the top herogiri.

Overall, the music by Vishal - Shekhar is average. Tooh, Dhat Tere Ki and Chingam Chabake are catchy numbers and must add that Dhat Tere Ki is indeed very well shot.

This is Punit's second attempt at a rom-com and he gets a few things right and a few wrong, making Gori Tere Pyaar Mein an average entertainer.

===============================================

Story :

Gori Tere Pyaar me is a crazy love story of Sriram (Imran Khan) and Diya (Kareena Kapoor). The story revolves around two characters out whom Sriram Venkat who's born in Bangalore, is a laid-back, young architect and someone who doesn't value relationships. While Sriram is careless about everything in world, his girlfriend Diya Sharma, a social activist, want to bring transformation in the world. Even though, they commenced with a casual relationship, accompanying time they get emotional. On the contrary, finally complex circumstances, different ideologies and mindsets drive them apart. Nevertheless, Sriram undergoes realization that his love for Diya is something more than a matter of lust and he can't live without her. On the contrary Diya has moved on and get settled in an interior village Jhumli, Gujarat.

During the time Sriram lands up to Jhumli at the same time puts an attempt to get back her love, Diya strongly rejects him. Yet this time Sriram can go to any extent to get his love back. Sriram puts an attempt to impress Diya by helping the people of Jhumli. But Sriram is not habituated to the thought of helping others. He puts his efforts to make Diya have confidence in the truth that he is changed and presently he is like any other villagers of Jhumli.

Now, the questions lies whether Sriram be able to win back his love? Will he be able to bring about the change in Jhumli??? Lets wait and see!

Analysis :

GTPM undoubtedly would satisfy its audience accompanied by the same age-old stuff due to the reason that nothing new to convey. Director Punit Malhotra has left no stone unturned to bring the spark of a village girl in Kareena, on the contrary in no way she looked justifying for the desi avtaar. Rather, to a suitable extent, Imran has done justice with his character. The film can work better for those who love to see light-hearted romantic tale of a boy madly in love with an ambitious girl. As the another release for this weekend is a typical maar-thaad action flick Singh Saab the Great', GTPM can definitely have a plus point as it will stimulate romance lovers.

Performance :

Final Word:GTPM can work to a greater extent for those who love to see light-hearted romantic tale of a boy madly in love with an ambitious girl. Due to the fact that there's another release for this weekend is a typical maar-thaad action flick Singh Saab the Great', GTPM can definitely have a plus point as it will stimulate romance lovers.

Now, let's see what magic "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" can spell on box-office this Friday. I would like to go with rating of 3 star for GTPM.

Have a great time!

I'm guessing single screens would get those morning shows.
I find it harder for multiplex audiences. I mean how many kids could possibly bump school/work to make it to a film at 10 am? 😆

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein lacks flavour

Saurabh Dwivedi November 22, 2013 | UPDATED 12:08 IST

Duration: 2 hours 27 minutes

Rating: 4 Star Rating: Recommended

Punit Malhotra, of 'I Hate Love Stories' fame, has directed this Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan starrer.

In 2004 there was a scientist called Mohan who flies down to a small village in India to meet his grandmother Kaveri. The village stands in a poor state, in that it lacks the basic amenities like electricity, while the villagers continue to live in the dark. Literally. This is where Mohan comes in.

Enter architect Sriram Venkat (Imran Khan) from America, who also lands up in a small village in India. His reason to land up here? His ex-love Dia (Kareena Kapoor) an NGO type, who's in this little viallge in Gujarat to help the poor and the helpless. Sriram feels the only way to win his love back is to build a bridge in the village, and to her heart. And as time moves on, he comes face to face with a corrupt collector.

The story unravels in a constricted space. Not only did Kareena stick to a mere six costumes thoughout the film, the film's set too seemed small.

Moving on, Dia is the kind of girl who wants to do something for the poor, while Sriram finds such talk to be fake. He, in fact, feels Dia need to 'chill' a little more in life. This is what eventually leads to a break up. Enter another beautiful girl who's set to marry Sriram. Turns out, this new girl is already in love with a Punjabi boy.

Imran Khan's acting in the movie is enough to put an entire audience to sleep. Kareena did okay comparatively. But there's no one else really in a big role, to pit her acting skills against. Isha Gupta, did a fine job, and it seems she's here to stay in Bollywood.

All in all, the story is weak. Direction is poor too. Had Puneet stuck to a different kind of film perhaps, one that catered more to generation Z's rich tastes, then that film would've definitely fared better. Vishal-Shekhar have composed the music in the film, and when heard otherwise, the songs seem nice.

Watch the movie if you have to, if you like to watch big stars on the big screen. For the rest, skipping this movie would be a wise decision.
