Tired of the incessant probing into his personal life, Ranveer Singh says that he is ready to draw a line.

A couple of weeks ago you were singing the Aashiqui 2 chartbuster, Sun Raha Hai, and saying you were an aashiq who was predisposed to being in love. Is the song still playing in your head?

No, right now its Nagada sang dhol from Ram Leela which is playing everywhere with requests for an encore. But yes, I am an aashiq who will even put his life on the line. I've done some really crazy things when in love. But sorry no details.

Reportedly, while filming one of the liplocks in Ram Leela, you got so lost in the moment that you forgot your cue and left director Sanjay Leela Bhansali screaming for a "reaction". True?

I get lost in the moment most of the time - whether it's a song, a dramatic moment or a burst of anger. In fact, when I'm supposed to be in a state of pure rage, my blood pressure shot up, and it seemed like I was going to explode from within. And when it's an emotional scene, the hangover continues for a day or two. I'm an actor who reacts straight from the heart and since I was working with a director like Mr Bhansali who demands a lot from his actors, it was even more intense.

Speculation is rife that your character's passion for Deepika Padukone spilled over into real life too. But while you have been quoted as saying that your "love life is rocking", Deepika insists that she has not been in a relationship for a long time. Comment.

(Pauses) You should put this question to Deepika.

You're being evasive like you were during a recent interview when you started playing music while Deepika simply smiled when asked if you were a couple in real life.

(Abruptly) That didn't happen.

So are you saying that you are in a relationship with Deepika?

(Getting cagey) People are trying to probe into aspects of my life that I'd like to keep private. I don't come from a film background so being a public figure was new to me and I treated press interviews like friendly conversations. But now I've learnt to be more judicious. A line has to be drawn and people should respect it. All this speculation is getting a bit too much. I'm here to act and it's depressing that my personal life is taking precedence over my work.

Is this turnaround the result of reports that you irked your co-stars, like Sonakshi Sinha, with comments in the press?

I don't think there were any such reports. All my co-stars so far are the same age as me and we've been friends. When I was working with Sonakshi I was hanging out with her. Ditto with Anushka (Sharma) and Deepika. When I'm working on a movie I like hanging out with the crew.

Will you continue hanging out with Deepika?

Once I start Kill Dil I will be hanging out with that unit. Director Shaadi Ali is like an older brother, he's been my friend since I was 16 and I assisted him for a year. It'll also give Parineeti Chopra and me a chance to explore each other as co-stars. She had only a bit role in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, but now she and me are the leads. It'll also give me a chance to work with my childhood idol Govinda who is the reason I wanted to become an actor. Then there's Zoya Akhtar's film with Anushka in which Priyanka (Chopra) is playing my sister.

So marriage is on the cards?

At the moment only work is on the cards. All my time and energy will be focussed on my films.
