Superhero takes off

Hrithik Roshan-starrer notches up incredible box-office figures; makes the most of the Diwali weekend

U nlike in Hollywood, superhero films in Bollywood aren't always a sure-fire formula for success. The last such film, Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One (2011), although marketed as one with mindblowing special effects and stunts, had average collections. Mind you, SRK's film also released during Diwali.

However, that clearly did not deter the makers of the Krrish franchise from targeting the Diwali weekend with a record 4,450 screens across India. However, lukewarm reviews and rather negative feedback for music notwithstanding, the third instalment of Hrithik Roshan's superhero franchise has got off to more than a flying start at the box office. It has collected a whopping

100 crore in just four days. "Despite all the criticism and with not a single hit track, it has done phenomenally. Had there been a hit song, it would have done even better. It's heartening to see a superhero film do well, considering RA.One tanked," says trade analyst Amod Mehra.

The film opened big, held steady through the weekend, and then passed the Monday test with glorious numbers. "On Friday, it collected 25.50 crores, followed by 23 crore on Saturday, adding another 24.50 crores on Sunday and finally, 35.91 crore on Monday. Pre-Diwali isn't always the best period as many theatre owners shut their premises for renovation. Rakesh Roshan was daring enough to go against norms of the trade and releasing the film around that time," Mehra explains.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh seconds Mehra's calculation and says, "Both kids and adults are enjoying the film." Meanwhile, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan claims that "The gross is 108.61. Yesterday, we earned 35.91, which is the highest one-day figure."

Krrish 3 Tuesday Box Office Collection : Estimates

Krrish 3 performed very well on Tuesday .The film has fared exceptionally well in the northern circuits including Delhi-UP and Rajasthan after the record breaking Monday .The film has also managed to collect good numbers from East Punjab ,CP and CI circuits . Circuits like Mumbai Nizam TN/Kerala and Mysore showed normal drops after a huge Monday.

The collections till evening in many parts were close to Saturday ,some were close to Friday while some higher than it .The night and evening shows got affected to some extent because of Wednesday being a working day .The early estimates are coming in at around at a huge 20.00 cr .The film looks all set to obliterate the highest 5th day collection record held by Dabangg 2 ( 15.50 cr). The film in the mean time has managed to score a century in 5 days only .The total 5 day collections stand in at around 109 cr .It is the 2nd fastest film along with Ek Tha Tiger to reach this coveted mark just behind Chennai Express (4 days+ Paid Previews).

The exceptional performance on Monday and Tuesday have clearly established that family audience have taken a liking to the film and with an open second week sky is the limit for the film.

200cr is such a huge target even scoring 100cr in record pace dunt guarrantee a place in the 200club

2nd week and 3rd week are also crucial!!!

Krrish has to keep the momentum going in order to reach the 200cr club finger crossed!!!

One time watch for sure.

Hrithik looks flipping sexy. Kudos for the hard work he has put in his body. All should go watch for Hrithik.
