Mum-in-law loses cool with the media for addressing Aishwarya by her name.

Seems, Jaya Bachchan is a rather protective mother-in-law.

At Subhash Ghai's party at an Andheri pub on Thursday night, Jaya snapped at the lensmen who addressed her daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Aishwarya.

The incident happened around 10.30 pm when the two ladies were met by a group of photographers who called out to Aishwarya to pose for them. But what they got was a tongue-lashing from Jaya.

Jaya did not take kindly to her bahu's first name being used by the photographers. She turned around and thundered: "Kya Aishwarya Aishwarya bula rahe ho, tumhare class mein padhti thi kya? (Why are you calling her Aishwarya? Was she your classmate?)

The photographers in question were rather taken aback by Jaya's fret.

Aishwarya maintained a poker face throughout the episode.

Almost immediately, the twosome were quickly escorted to their vehicle.

A photographer present at the venue (on request of anonymity) told Mirror, "What else does one call her? Sometime ago, Abhishek Bachchan too had screamed at us for referring to his wife as Ash telling us that her name is Aishwarya and not Ash. Do they expect us to call her Mrs Bachchan?"
