That is what I asked! What does second lead mean? The one who has a shorter role or the one who doesn't get the hero in the end? Or the one who has a less impactful role?

true poppy! her maar daala was actually a killer! beyond amazing!

and you know it has its own definitions

like Bollywood categorized kareena's role in talaash and WAF as supporting but imo it was the central role!

any how no matter how amazing madz was in devdas- wasn't it kind of clear by the film itself that devdas was more a story of devdas and paro and chandarmukhi was always the second one- I mean that's the impression we all have always had! and madz clearly had a shorter role- I wont say less impactful, but Bollywood safely called her the supporting one in devdas!

she also played a second fiddle to preity in yeh raste hain pyar ke? *ouch* don't beat me for that! :p but wasn't it! ?

Salman khan in saajan
SRK in deewana/darr
Ajay in HDDCS
these are 2nd leads but not supporting characters cos they had a big role to play in the movie while those which can be called supporting roles are
Saif in KHNH
Salman in KKHH
AB jr in KANK 😆

I think it's only Aishwarya and it has more to do with her being insecure with other actresses.

She was offered Bipasha Basu's role in Sunil Darshan's forgettable film Barsaat but she refused it.

And forget second lead role, she has hardly done two heroine projects. It seems that she makes it sure that other lead has not an equally long part.

Also I had read during that time that she had forced Sanjay to chop off Madhuri's role which sounds true.

Even Dola Re Dola song features Aishwarya for longer than Madhuri.

However, Madhuri still outshone her in Devdas with her 30 - 35 minute role. Her Maar Dala is the best part of Devdas.

BTW I like Aishwarya too but Madhuri is Madhuri.

nope there is a difference. Salman was the one who united madhuri and sanjay in the end while saif had nothing to do ,had more songs than either of them and was even shown in the last frame of the movie ! How many supporting characters get so much to do ??

haven't seen full Yeh Raste Hai Pyaar Ke. But I think it revolves around Madhuri's delusional character. Anyway I think it was a bad film.
