Many a times, an actor or a model has no say over how their final pictures appears in the print-media!
If the editor of a magazine like Femina tells her technical team to lighten a particular actor's complexion or make their nose look sharper and cheek bones more pronounced on the cover page...it is not really the actor or model's call.
Yes...an actor can take a stand that they won't let their skin appear lighter or fairer...but if they do that, then they would instantly be branded as being unprofessional and not letting the make-up team / photoshoot team do their work. They might even lose the assignment or the cover photo altogether! They are damned both ways.
If an actor is truly conscious of their dark skin (and I am not just talking about Deepika...this can apply to all dusky complexioned actors), then they would never appear without make-up at any public place...but we have seen, that almost all our actors have appeared without makeup in public at some point or the other.
And they know very well, that they can be clicked anywhere...either in a temple or at a nightclub or coming out from the hospital. So, its not like they are not prepared to be snapped by the media!
If color of skin held so much importance to them, then why would these actors come with their bare / natural skin out in the public?
