With Prabhudheva as a director, Shahid wasn't worried about 'R... Rajkumar'

Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor is known for being really particular about the scripts of his films. It is a different matter though that his last few films haven't really come across as the kind where scripts could be considered as the USP. However at his end, Shahid has set a rule for himself by demanding a bound script before stepping into the film.

For 'R... Rajkumar' though, he wilfully chose to break his self imposed rule. One man who allowed a change in heart was none other than Prabhudheva.

"You don't really argue with someone's standing and understanding of entertaining cinema when he has two back to back commercial successes (Rowdy Rathore, Wanted) behind him. When it came to Prabhudheva and his 'R... Rajkumar', Shahid chose to take it easy and just go with the director's vision without making any fuss around the last word in the script being presented to him," informs a source.

Though this was also the time when he had opted out of 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' due to creative reasons and didn't proceed with 'Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara' after the initial talks, he didn't blink an eyelid when it came to 'R... Rajkumar' where he has Sonakshi Sinha playing his love interest.

"That's because he blindly trusted in Prabhudheva," says Viki Rajani, film's co-producer (along with Sunil Lulla), "Everyone in the industry knows that he demands a bound script but in case of 'R... Rajkumar', he just wanted to follow the path that Prabhudheva had set for him. The idea was to bring Bollywood's youngest action hero on screen. We have seen Salman, Ajay, Akshay, Shahrukh, Hrithik doing some good action of late. However no one in Shahid's age group has done such kind of raw action. This is the USP of the film and Shahid was on board from Day One."

Adds Prabhudheva, "When your leading hero believes in you so much, there is all the more responsibility for you to deliver as a director. He totally surrendered to me not just when it came to action but also the way he walks, talks or dresses in the film. I had to make sure that his faith in me wasn't belied."
