Akshay Kumar's 2013 releases till now have failed to live upto the expectation and standard of this 'Khiladi' star avatar. In 2012 Akshay was on roll with Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2 and Oh My God super success. But, in 2013 there is nothing much to show off for this 'Khiladi' except Special 26 critical acclaim. But everything might change with release of Boss on 16th October which is a Mid-Week Release because of Bakri-Id / Idu'l Zuha. With Akshay back with his favourite Khiladi Action avatar there might be a craze uproar in single screens and mass centers all India on opening day.
No doubt Akki's stardom will fetch a good start at ticket counter, but again it has to be the content which will take it further. Good news is that Boss is starting Solo on 16th and have a decent 16 days free run till Krrish 3 release. What's more it will release in more than 3000 screens (more or less certain). That means it has immense potential to collect sky high numbers and only time will tell how much far it can go. Boss also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Ronit Roy, Aditi Rao Hydari in pivotal roles. So, without any further delay let's start the box office prediction of Boss.
Potential - Boss is set to release on 3000+ screens and number can go upto 3200-3300 screens also. Allocation is going on and exact numbers will be known on or before the film release. As film is releasing solo it can shot 30 crore in a single day with 100% or near about occupancy.
Budget - It is not confirmed yet, but Boss final landing cost including Publicity and Marketing should be around 55-60 crore.
Satellite Rights - Again not confirmed. Should be around in the region of 35-40 crore. But nowadays there is a clause of Film Satellite Rights depending on box office success. So, actual will be known only after few days running of the film.
Amount Already Recovered pre-release - Around 42-43 crore at least. Taking Satellite Right as 35 crore which is bare minimum and another 7-8 crore from Music, Home Video and others. That means a majority part of investment by the makers have been already recovered before the film release. Rest should not be difficult from India Theatricals and Overseas Theatricals.
Amount need to be earned by Distributors - Boss should collect a distributor share of 55-60 crore from India and Overseas to Break Even and more to be in good profit zone.
Box Office Performance and Potential :-
Opening Day - Since, Boss is releasing on Bakri Id (Idu'l Zuha) expect film to take hurricane start at least in Mass dominated centers. Yes, film has potential of touching 30 crore on First Day, but realistically 20 crore nett will be a good start. We think Boss will collect in the range of 20 crore for Opening Day.
