Local police faced tough time to push the protesters outside the airport area. Police had to use some force. At least six protesters were detained. They are likely to be released only after Deepika's Ahmedabad visit is over. Deepika arrived at the airport in Jet Airways plane. She couldn't come out of the airport building due to protest. Local police contacted the headquarters to seek more force to take the actress safely to her destination.

Protests against bold potrayal and relationship shown in the film

Ahmedabad based Maldhari Ekta Samiti and Vihotar Yuva Group of Gujarat have declared protest programme at The Grand Bhagwati hotel on SG highway yesterday which is the hotel where Deepika is going to stay. Protest programmes were also planned at YMCA club ground where Deepaka is going to promote the film during Garba event tonight.

Rajput community has protested against the film which is yet to be released at Kutch, Jamnagar, Sanand, Surat, Vadodara, Junagadh and other areas of Gujarat. Many theater owners are not ready to release the film following protests and threats. The film's release and its trailer are also challenged in the high court. The Kshatriya/Rajput community groups want ban on release of the film and its trailers due to "deliberate attempt by film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali to show Kshatriya community in derogatory terms".

At a protest outside the City Gold multiplex on Monday, members of the Rajput community threatened to set ablaze multiplexes and cinema houses that will show the movie. The protestors also marked their presence at Shiv multiplex. "Rajput girls do not step out of their homes. To depict a woman from our community in such a light and having an affair with a youth from the Rabari community is unacceptable," said Ravubha Vaghela, president of Rajput Vidhyasabha, Gujarat.

"This is an insult to the women of our community and we are willing to sacrifice our lives to stop this movie from being shown in this city," he said. Parthivraj Kathwadia, a member of the Rajput community said, "We have warned them of serious consequences if the film is screened in their multiplexes." Community members protesting outside the multiplexes shouted slogans against the film and even tried to enter City Gold. However, they were stopped by multiplex officials who assured the protestors they had not ordered the film and did not intend to show it.

Meanwhile erstwhile royal family members of Rajkot and Gondal today claimed that during their phone talk with film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, they were assured that particular words mentioning particular caste identity will be removed from the film on editing table before the film is released.

The film ahead of its release is facing protest in various parts of Gujarat. In some towns, theater owners are reluctant to release it due to angry protests by Kshatriya/Rajputs and Rabari communities. The film's release has been challenged in the Gujarat High Court too through a petition.

Police had anticipated the protests. Hence, the actress was escorted to her hotel under police protection, while the protesters were detained by Sardarpura Police.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali camp was in a tizzy after his much awaited magnum opus Ram Leela was met with protests by the Rajput community. In a bid to avoid trouble, the filmmaker is now taking necessary steps to ensure a smooth release. The film revolves around the romance between a Jadeja girl (Deepika Padukone) and a Rabari boy (Ranveer Singh) with the two communities depicted as warring clans. The Rajput Samaj of Ahmedabad had threatened to file a petition against the movie in the Gujarat High Court over the movie's alleged "attempt to misinterpret the history of Rajput and Rabari communities". Though initially Bhansali did not respond when the protests erupted, with the organisation threatening to stall the release of the film in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and other states where the Rajput community resides, the director has now taken evasive action to salvage his much hyped project. Bhansali has decided to remove all references to Jadejas and Rabaris from the film and the filmmaker and the film's cast are now back in the dubbing studio. A source close to Bhansali confirmed the news to Mirror, saying, "The trailer has been well accepted and he did not want to complicate the film's release. Better be safe than sorry as at the end of the day it's an expensive film which has been made with a lot of hard work and passion. Though it is a tough task, it has to be done." The source added that it will be a 9-10 day long exercise as the film is peppered with such references. "Dialogues by almost all the main characters will need to be redubbed as the name of Jadejas and Rabaris has been used umpteen times. The dubbing will happen at Sunny Super Sound Studio in Juhu and the cast has been summoned, some even from outdoor shoots," added the source.

SLB ends controversy surrounding Ram Leela

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Ram Leela featuring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh has been mired in controversy for the past few weeks. Though the Delhi High court dismissed a peal that requested a ban on the release of the film, we hear that Bhansali has decided to put an end to all controversies.

In a letter to Pravinsinh Jadeja, president of Shree Kutch Kathiawad Gujarat Garasia Association, Bhansali Productions has stated that they would be replacing the words Chandravanshi, Kshatriya, Rajput, Jadeja and Rabari with fictitious ones.

The said letter signed by Chetan Deolekar, executive producer of Bhansali Productions Private limited, states, "Bhansali being a Gujarati himself has immense respect and regards for Jadeja community and does not intend to or has any intention to hurt the feelings or sentiments of the people of the said or any other community and he would never indulge in any activity to hurt the feelings and sentiments of the communities."
