Chennai Express Collection Crosses Rs 200 Cr Mark

It's a raining rain for Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express, which has continued to keep the bells ringing at the worldwide Box Office. The collection of the Rohit Shetty-directed film has crossed Rs 200 crore mark in the global market in just six days. The film has beaten the previous record of Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, which had taken more than 10 days to surpass this mark. Chennai Express, which released in 3500+ screens in domestic mark on August 9, opened to an overwhelming response and collected Rs 100.42 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. The movie, which continued to rock on weekdays, has collected Rs 34.37 crores from its screenings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Now, its six-day domestic total stands at Rs 134.79 crores nett. The Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer has released in 700+ screens in 11 foreign countries. Chennai Express collected Rs 50.47 crores nett at the International Box Office in the first weekend. The movie has also done superb business on weekdays by collecting approximately Rs 20 crores nett. Now, its six-day overseas total stands at Rs 70.47 crores nett. Chennai Express has collected a total of Rs 205.26 crores nett at the worldwide Box Office in six days. Today (Agugust 15) happens to be a national holiday in India and trade expert feel that the movie will surely collect Rs 30+ crores in the domestic Box Office on the seventh day, taking its global total close to Rs 250 crore mark in the first week.

Worldwide Opening Weekend: Chennai Express Crushes Old Record

Chennai Express has simply crushed the old Worldwide opening figure by a mind boggling 60 crore. Dabangg 2 had been the first film to hit a 100 crore Worldwide in three days followed by Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani but Chennai Express has gone all the way to 167 crore. Below are the top ten Worldwide opening weekends.

Oh that's right they haven't, but generally film discussions/ review threads are only stickied for a week until the next film to not have too many stickies..

Chennai Express Up 10% On Wednesday

Chennai Express collections jumped 10% on Wednesday due to strong evening collections at multiplexes as today is a national holiday. The collections so far are 126 crore nett and the film will top 140 crore nett for the week.

The film is down just 10% in terms of shows on Thursday despite a big release like Once Upon A time In Mumbai Dobara and continues at the single screens. The collections will no doubt be better than Once Upon A Time In Mumbai on Independence Day despite it being the first day of that film.

There will be a huge drop on Friday and it is the second week that will determine that whether the film goes on to become 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th biggest grosser of all time.
