Taran goes mental whenever a big movie that he rates 4 stats does well, so awaiting BOI--although the trend suggest that it has broken the record of ETT.

Weekend should comfortably be 85+ and lifetime around 180 crores.

Chennai Express has collected around 33 crore nett on Friday (First Day) at the Indian Domestic Box Office as per estimates. Thus, it smashed all opening collection box office record. CE has slightly emerged ahead of Ek Tha Tiger who had the previous box office opening record of 32.9 crore nett. Actual is compiled and final figure may vary. Both Chennai Express and ETT were neck and neck when first day figures are compiled, In few centers Chennai Express was ahead, whereas in other ETT.

In addition to that Chennai Express has collected around 6.5 crore nett on Thursday Preview shows which is also a new record. Thus, Chennai Express total collection stands at around 39.5 crore nett. Film has registered an opening day occupancy of 85-90% on average. Film took bumper opening in Morning shows with 75-80% occupancy. But was in full throttle from afternoon shows. Later half of the day was mindblowing with occupancy in 90-95%+ zone. Many housefull shows are recorded everywhere all India. In fact many shows are Sold Out even before few hours of the film. Shahrukh Khan is back again to rule box office with this masalathan. It is also great news for Deepika Padukone as she is on a roll with Hit after Hit.

Collection Breakup -

Thursday (Paid Preview) - 6.5 crore nett.

Friday - 33 crore nett (Estimates).

Total - 39.5 crore nett approx.
