My perception of CE and its promo - Page 2

Rohit Shetty doesn't make my kind of films..My most awaited film is Lootera and I liked Kahaani and Barfi the most last year( I am a SRK Deepika fan)

I just today watched the promo and it sounds interestin. Atleast far better than JTHJ

I have always been impressed by Rohit Shetty's Trending and his understanding of his target audience..CE is a good example

On Youtube..CE hit a million views on Day 1..I thought hmm ok,considering the hype and publicity..

Day 2 it hit 2 million..I was interested

Day 3 it is going to hit 3 million +..never seen anything like this before.

All films including JTHJ,ETT,YJHD.. hit a million in 2 days and then take 5 to 6 days to hit 2 million..

That is the difference here..Thanks to Rohit Shetty..

Aashiqui2 got more views than YJHD..

Studying google trends and Youtube views is tough..Many factors come to play..Star power,genre, music..

Comparing the same bracket films gives an idea what works and what doesn't.

In this case ,I was only talking of TRENDING...It only shows whether a trailer is being liked or not..I was also drawing attention to the way Singham,Bol Bachchan and Golmaal 3 trended at the BO (outstanding)..

OuatimD trailer was rejected..It had a million views in 2 days..It just about got 2 million views today..

That's not actually true. Rowdy Rathore got 1 million views in a week time. 2 million in 2 and half weeks. Then it stopped. Look at Box Office collection of that over JTHJ which has over 8 million views.

OUATIMD trailer isn't rejected. But looking at dislikes of the trailers of ETT, D2, BB, SOS, Khiladi 786, S26, Talaash and now OUATIMD, one doesn't really need to figure out why that's the case. 😆 most (not all) of them did better than all SRK films in recent times. Theory is that SRK film trailers breaks records but unfortunately it doesn't apply same with his film's actual collections 😆

I did this "long" post only because I have never spoken about this film earlier. So all views about posters, song, trailer and general apprehensions about the film came out finally in one long post.

To be honest I feel Rohit Shetty and SRK's brand of cinema and entertainment are as unalike as chalk and cheese. I still don't know if they are a "combination" let alone a potentially successful combination in reality.

But yes, from entertainment POV this film seems more watchable than SRK films in recent past. At least it's clear cut entertainer and not a wannabe epic romance or great sci fi film that would take cinema to "new levels".

I agree to some points in your post but I was referring more to expressions. And I hope this film focuses more on romance which is SRK's forte and not comedy or action (the last one is not his zone).

But even romance is a stale feel now...I mean where's the element of curiosity and surprise?

When SRK did DDLJ after films like Darr, Anjaam and Baazigar, there was element of unpredictability and curiosity in it! Yeh kaise karega? How will he manage to pull of a dream match (since he was mostly scaring away girls in past films)?! So he surprised with DDLJ. Same way he surprised with Swades and CDI. And in a way, OSO also because it was a welcome change from those teary emotional/romantic dramas he'd been a part of.

CE also has element of curiosity because SRK's doing such a film after a long time. But for me, from promo...the surprise and curiosity element seemed less.

BTW I caught up with some of his interviews on CE on news channels and I am surprised why he's doing such interviews SO SOON? Abhi se sab bata dega kya?
Nor am I much enthused by whatever he revealed about the film in those interviews. They didn't help my perception of this film really.

trailer views dont indicate the BO collection. Because BO is all about how many people come to see the movie after its initial response and second viewers.

But it shows who and what is popular most and generate curiosity and the number of fans he/she or the film has worldwide.

SRK's movies and also trailers have always the best viewer count worldwide because he has more fans worldwide and what ever he does creatE such a hype around. All his films never get bad opening. His last few movies were only for plexes. This is him after 2007 OSO doing an out and out commercial film which connects to single screens.


I think this getting more counts has to do some thing with him doing a comedy after a long time. Except few who dont understand cinema, I am sure every one knows his last out and out entertainer aimed to single screen was OSO, though Rabne did well in single screens with good wom. All ater that like MNIK, DON 2, JTHJ are foreign based high tech films which were made for multiplexes hence the lesser overall collection.
