Shocked' by Jiah Khan's death, boy commits suicide in Jaipur

Jaipur: A twelve-year-old boy has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling hook in Sriganganagar city with family members claiming he was apparently upset over actress Jiah Khan's death.

Babu, a fifth class student of Gurunanak Basti in Sriganganagar district, on Tuesday committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling hook in his home, investigating officer (IO) Ramesh Kumar told PTI on phone.

Deceased's family members told the police that the boy was repeatedly watching Jiah's suicide episode on TV news channel, and he was probably upset and ended his life when no one was inside the house, IO said.

The boy's body was handed over to his father after postmortem, IO added.

^ Nothing bizzare if he was Jiah's fan/liked her and I am sure Jiah must have/had many fans...I have read number of comments in TOI/other articles and saw that many people liked her...anyways, now coming back to this 12 year old...This is really ridiculous...I think more than a fan ( since he is too young to be a fanatic I believe - since Jiah didn't have that many movies released ) , he must be sad that how could this happen/why she did that/he was upset abt something in his real life...and probably wanted to try it out.( as he watched her footage/news many times)...

people really liked Jiah and she had fans but bollywood was rough with her... the way she was kicked out of Chance Pe Dance and Wanted seemed really unfair!

about this suicide case by the fan... really unfortunate. suicide is never the answer! RIP

Yes, Jiah did have fans. Although she had a rough career in Bollywood.

Either way suicide is never the right option.

This is quite sad. Teenagers and adolescents are easily influenced. Parents and schools need to find a way to help these young people sort these issues in a healthy manner. The problem in many places is that people just try to outright cut or ban television, movies, hobbies that maybe obsessive without spending time to understand the kids and help them channel their passions in a healthy manner. Hate to quote Oprah, but as she would say – issues like celebrity suicides, deaths, scandals are "teachable moments" if the parents and guardians do it right. This could have been avoided.
