The music of Raanjhanaa is a storytelling effort: AR Rahman

Oscar winner A R Rahman, who has composed the music and background score for Raanjhanaa, directed by Aanand L Rai, got on board the film because he loved the fact that it was rooted in Indianness. Talking about the music of the film, Rahman says, "When Aanand narrated the script to me, I

was drawn to its Indianness..Raanjhanaa has an earthy Banaras feel to it and the music here plays a bigger role. It aims to tell a story. It has classical and folk elements that are character driven. The film has a rustic and urbane side to it, which is reflected in the music."

Rahman promises there's much more to come with a track titled, Freedom, sung by Rabbi. "It is a contemporary track about the character in urbane Delhi. I've sung it with Rabbi Shergill," he says. The film stars actors Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush and Abhay Deol.

I really hope this will work well. It gives a nice vibe.But music is not up to the mark, it's just ok.

loved the album, its the perfect blend of classical, folk blended with western touches and songs.

I loved tum tak (folk), banarsaiya (classical), raanjhanaa (folkish), nazar laye ( my fav what a voice Rashid ali), arr song ( jazzy) and the sakhi totally classical

this is what I want in an album, such mixture is amazing
