The original 'Don' was in 1978. Although the 2006 version will keep the general theme and outline of the original, there will be some changes. It will be updated per the times for one. Also, "my 'Don' will be gadget-friendly for sure, though I won't overdo the gizmos. For instance, mobile phones will play a big part," director Farhan Akhtar said. Shah Rukh Khan will take the character a step further than Amitabh, in that he will actually be lending his voice in song. In 'Khaike Paan Banaras Walla', SRK will sing the opening lines and some interludes, while Udit Narayan will croon the rest. The late great Kishore Kumar sang the evergreen song in the original film. The difference will be that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have recreated the song, much in the same way they did for 'Pretty Woman' in Karan Johar's 'Kal Ho Na Ho'. There will be some other similarities to the original, like the polka-dotted shirt Amitabh wore for the entire second half of the film. Shah Rukh's version will be slightly different. Many who have seen the classic original will be making the comparisons throughout, but don't let that make you miss out on the rest of this version. 'Don' releases worldwide on October 20th. | ||||||||||||
