Sonam is one of the brand ambassadors of L'Oreal representing India or something. THAT'S WHY she's there. She's fullfiling her side of the responsibilities that come along with being the face of an international brand (just like Aishwariya, Freida, and any other faces for the same brand) and she's living the life. It is what it is.

Vidya is there because she's on the jury or something and she's a very popular actress from India.

The Bombay Talkies directors are there b/c their film is going to be showcased there in front of the audience.

From what I've noticed, if you're invited from a major brand, they make you the center of attention. Maybe others just invite themselves or reserve a time when they could show their movie to the world. Saif and Deepika probably never got the attention they were hoping to get at Cannes because they didn't market themselves well enough and didn't have a team to do it on their behalf.

I just don't think there's any need to discredit Sonam or Aishwariya or anybody else from BW being there. Talk about a case of khatte angoor. 😆 They're obviously there since they hold some value to the brand, or else why would L'Oreal spend money on them? Even with all this being said, yes, I do think that the Indian media (and the international media to some extent) tends to overhype the Cannes Film Festival a little to much but hey, that's the media for us. That's just how they are.

Maybe Katrina would've gone if one of her movie was about to be released how or if she was also part of L'Oreal or of some other international brand. But she's not, so big whoop. The world does not end and begin with Katrina's popularity. This may be the sad reality for some but hey, deal with it.

Sonam went because of L'Oreal.

Ash too. And then she was on jury members panel one year.

And now she is a KNOWN face.

Mallika Sherawat went too. Twice or something. I dont

know which movie for or for what tho.

Katrina, Kareena, Priyanka, havent gone because they

arent endorsing a beauty brand like Sonam and Ash.

Anyway Saif went but does anyone KNOW?

BIG GUNS of Bollywood. Why arent they invited. How puzzling...

Anyway i would add Kat gives a crap. She barely makes it to

Bollywoodian events that too she looks like she would rather be

elsewhere most of the time. Shes so busy shooting for her films

I dont think she would be too thrilled to spend a month designing

some 4 outfits and then donning it and preening in front of press just

coz theyre 'phoren.'
