I have not banked on home production: Tusshar Kapu

It's not easy for an actor to stand out in films with an ensemble cast. However, Tusshar has managed to achieve this feat in a number of films — 'Khakee' (2004), the 'Golmaal series' (2006, 2008, 2010), 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' (2007) and 'Shor In The City' (2011).

His performance in Shootout At Wadala (SAW) further consolidates his stand as an actor. He says, "I give my heart and soul to my character. I believe that's why directors make my roles more significant in context of the storyline. I'm content with the way people are reacting to my performance."

The actor is happy that his character, Sheikh Munir, friend of Manya Surve (John Abraham), has turned out the way the makers had visualised it.

"What I wanted to achieve with the character — a gangster with a good heart — I have. I wasn't anticipating this feedback, but I admit that I wanted it. If I had a choice to pick a character I'd like to play in SAW, I'd choose Munir because I'm confident of the part."

The actor doesn't believe in bulldozing his way if the film is a home production, like in the case of SAW.

He says, "I've not banked on home productions. The audience doesn't care if an actor is related to the producer. What stays with them is the content, character and performance."

About his upcoming projects, Tusshar says, "I'm not restricting myself to any particular genre. I like to strike a balance. My next film is Bajate Raho, an offbeat comedy; something I haven't attempted before."
