100% agree. Actually, for all people say that Ranbir is a "better" actor than SRK can even dream of being,...truth is, SRK can do these silly rom coms in his sleep and Ranbir struggles immensely with them. He simply does not have the charm to pull off a run of the mill rom com because he looks bored throughout them. He can do romance, but he needs an atypical character/story like Barfi, WUS. I've always found Ranbir weak in the run of the mill stuff--BAH, AA, etc. It's ironic because of the guy's personal life 😆 You'd think someone who has had that many affairs would have some charm in real life that he should be able to transfer on screen. But alas,no. On top of that, his own dad was very good at these roles, Bobby anyone? 😆 I think when I pointed this out in the trailer thread, someone made a good point...that Ranbir actually might hate this masala stuff so he doesn't even try, but does it because he has to. He is like Hrithik then, run of the mill stuff doesn't work so well for him. That's why I said in Battameez Dil that he should dance throughout the film because that was the first time I saw him interested in the film 😆

As for rom-coms, well...Ranveer is not a looker, but he has the charm for them. Shahid was always decent too. But I don't know who will be the next "SRK" when it comes to romance. Might take generations as you said.

Charm is such an interesting thing, no? There are actors today also that you can call charming...Ranbir is charming too...but SRK defines that era of effortless romantic charm that we've grown up watching...there's a whole generation that's grown up APING the SRK school of charm...lol...I watched JTHJ a few days back...crap movie but SRK as the intense brooding Major Samar *sigh*...that's when you know what's missing in actors in general these days...there are some things that only HE can pull off like that.

You're right about Ranbir not being so good at playing these casanova type roles despite the ironic truths of his real life shenanigans...lol...maybe it's like the case of real life couples failing to generate chemistry on screen...lol...what he's great at in real life, he isn't able to do that well onscreen?

He deffo looks bored in typical masala...from what I can see from his interviews, his sights are set higher anyways in terms of the roles and films he wants to do...guess these are just timepass interludes for him.

But I wish there was an SRK in this generation who could make even so called timepass fare amazing simply with his charisma...It takes some charm to even ride out the masala effortlessly I guess...lol

Naah even Ranveer's charm isn't THAT level to see him through any lame rom-com...I'm telling you there is no one as of now among the newbies like that...unless they all surprise me a few years down the line...but BBB and LVRB alone don't convince me that Ranveer has that kind of charm...

Thing is, nobody in a while has had SRK kind of intensity in their EYES...that is more than half the battle won.

LOL Remo Bhaiyya pulled some of his boring DID choreography in a movie also then it seems😆😆...guess it's a hit or miss...Balam Pichkari didn't impress me much either...only Badtameez Dil has been good so far...

All these thumkas and hair flips and "chhori sharaabi" stuff just gives me deja vu of Deepika from Chor Bazaari in LAK...sad that no one seems to be able to extract anything FRESH out of her😕

Ranbir is charming, but ..somehow it doesn't come through in run of the mill films. I guess it is that somehow not being able to act yourself in films or doing parallels to your life well on screen. Yep Ranbir is aiming higher, but he needs these films for BO, breathers, I guess...can't be doing only heavy-duty stuff.

Of course, something about SRK is far more effortless in these roles..ironic because SRK HATES doing these roles too. 😆 Oh you saw JTHJ. Yeah SRK as Major Samar Aanand was the best part. There's still a sincerity to his performances when it comes to romance, despite his age and some of the super cheesy dialogues he was given in the film. I loved that scene in the church when he yelled at Kat..in the red saree. Sigh. That movie felt kinda like an end to the SRK romance era.

No no, I was comparing Ranveer to his contemporaries only, not to SRK...In comparison to his contemporaries, Ranveer is charming on screen in these roles...at least in BBB he was. LVRB left a lot to be desired, but BBB was still better than Ranbir's attempts at this genre, or so I thought. I haven't seen SRK waala intensity or charm in anyone else. and no certainly NOT Sid Malhotra. God, everytime I hear he is like SRK in romance, I feel like a part of me dies. 😆 Maybe Hasee Toh Phasee will change my mind, but I wonder with Parineeti in the same frame, will I even notice Sid? 😆

That's it na...it's SRK's eyes that do the talking, always..even in the silliest stuff. Sigh...this just makes me want to rewatch DDLJ or its songs at least..

Re: Remo-Deepika...lol this whole film gives me LAK dejavu at times. Not only that, but her expressions...what happened? they are gayab. DP is inconsistent.

Huge disappointment after Badtameez Dil.
Deepika always had a masculine body which she hid under smart dressing. She has an amazing fashion sense. Such dress doesn't suit her due to her elongated tummy. I remember there was a wedding scene in LAK where she wore a lehenga choli, her elongated tummy literally covered up the whole theatre screen.😆

i heard the same too...

its actually a story b/w both characters naina-bunny age in various stages...one when they were teenage years where they don't know what to do in life and just go with the flow...this is when deeps character is the nerdy one...we see trekking...outing...with bunny-additi-naina-avi

and then their late twenties when both characters becomes matured and understand the real meaning of life..relationships and love through their experience...and here deeps character will be strong...super confident...focused...and rooted with family values...a transformation in her character from a shy sweet...simple nerdy girl...to strong..super confident...focused and rooted with family values girl...

and i also got to know that in this film...deeps character naina wants to be a doctor...

It gives me vibe of "One Day" starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Hope its not like that.

LOL the portions with Kat have kinda blanked out from my memory...I'm talking about the earlier stuff...when he's in the army getup in Leh/Ladakh...I think after ages I swooned over him😆😆....those portions were written aptly without cheesy dialogues much, he played his age and was just perfect there...

Ppl think he's like SRK in romance? haha...I didn't know this...well he deffo seems influenced...it was pretty obvious in that earring wala scene especially in SOTY...he's got soft eyes...but SRK can do a million things with his eyes that I don't think this guy can quite begin to do. LOL but he'll make a cute pairing with Pari...speaking of Pari toh I'm still looking forward to her pairing with Sushant more...I think they're gonna be more fun😆

As for Ranveer...BBB ka Bittoo Sharma had this charming sadakchhaap aura which came from the characterization itself...the moment Ranveer stepped out of that to play a somewhat suave charmer, the charm level strangely dialed down😆...so yeah I'm waiting to see how much he pulls it in his coming movies.

That's it na...it's SRK's eyes that do the talking, always..even in the silliest stuff. Sigh...this just makes me want to rewatch DDLJ or its songs at least.. *sigh DDLJ...don't activate my mega SRK-Kajol fangirl mode now😆

Re: Remo-Deepika...lol this whole film gives me LAK dejavu at times. Not only that, but her expressions...what happened? they are gayab. DP is inconsistent. She's inconsistent cuz of the roles given to her too...so far she's only managed to "excel" in the party girl role of Cocktail...seems like she needs that level of craze to generate an intense performance...lol...otherwise she coasts along on her beauty and figure.

Deepika is a good dancer but in order to get her steps right she missed out on the expressions.
She looks robotic
Ranbir should just give up. Rom-coms are not his thing

Many many of them...and I'm always like "😕" He's influenced for sure and no he's not hopeless in romantic scenes, but he has a veryyy long way to go. The Sid-Pari pics from a photoshoot were pretty cute so the chemistry I'm not too worried about. Haha, I'm looking forward to Sushant-Pari too, but geez...can YRF release something about the film? It's not a national security issue ki they have to be so secretive. 😆

LOL Salman was pretty good at the suave charmer...he played these casanova characters with ease. 😆

Maybe that's it...some of her characters are largely underwritten...Veronica was more fleshed out I guess so it came through. Anyways, this movie seems like it's supposed to be Ranbir's story from everything Ayan has said...so I wonder how well written DP's role is here. Its obvious this film is complete antithesis of WUS. There's nothing wrong with silly masala rom coms, but even they have to be done well and acted well..
