So ecstatic was Kareena Kapoor with the response she evoked for her performance in Omkara, that she hosted a trial show for her close friends and colleagues yesterday at Yashraj Studios.
Aamir Khan, who was in the guest list, asked for 10 passes and came with his friends. His wife Kiran Rao joined him later with her friends.
Aamir was supposed to act in Vishal's next film with Kareena but chose to opt out of it due to some difference in opinion. "Aamir came to the show to prove that there is no animosity between Vishal and him," says a source.
The buzz doing the rounds was that Aamir had a problem with Kareena too and hence refused the same film. But his presence at the trial proved otherwise. "Aamir is very fond of the Kapoor sisters. He has worked with Karishma and is keen to work with Kareena too. So when Kareena invited him for her trial, he not only agreed to attend, but also got his friends along," says our source.
The others present at the show were Karan Johar and Gauri Khan, who entered hand-in-hand, while Shah Rukh Khan came later with Farhan Akhtar, after pack-up of the shoot of Don. Mani Ratnam, who is in town for the dubbing of Guru, also attended the trial.
"Kareena played the perfect host and greeted all her guests personally. She was very happy to see Konkona. It was obvious that they had bonded well during the making of the film," says a source.
Just as the theatre began to fill up, Kareena remembered that Tusshar Kapoor was on his way and she immediately reserved a seat for him.
Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan and Rosa couldn't make it. Nor could Vivek Oberoi, who had organised a private screening for his family and friends at Fun Republic at the same time. "When the film was about to start, Kareena realised that there was no seat for her. So she watched the film, standing, for three hours," says a source.
After the film, Kareena was bombarded with compliments, Konkona too received a fair share. "I was in seventh heaven when Shah Rukh came up to me and said, 'You are good'. Frankly speaking, I thought I was just about okay, the rest of the cast was brilliant," says Konkona.
