But the 90s was really twisted though. There is this Anil Kapoor film where he rapes Juhi's character. But instead of filing a report and throwing him in jail, she stalks him, feigns pregnancy, changes his name, takes care of him and forces him to marry her. And then there's Rani's Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat. Why just blame the actors when these popular actresses had no qualms about taking up such disgustingly regressive roles?

In reality the girl would probably scream rape and hit the guy with the back of her shoe. I have no idea what kind of message these shows are trying to send across. In most TV shows the girl has absolutely no personality of her own and it is only the hero's "lowe" that gives her character any importance at all. I find it downright disgusting how young girls lap it up. It gives birth to a lot of unrealistic expectations about how romance should be like.

@Dexter - Good thing you didn't. I have just watched the first film and heard tons about the book series. Apparently Edward the supposed vampire stalks the girl when she's asleep and she finds it really cute. The book series also glorifies self-harm in the absence of your "soul mate". It's a very unhealthy book series, I tell you.
