Dev D was so much more interesting and far better..I didn't want to watch it initially since I heard it was a modern version of Devdas..but I'm so glad I did. Everyone & everything was great in DevD..and Abhay just blew me away.

The songs were good, Kaahe Chhede was a classic dance composition and awesomely enacted by madz, The more piya sequence was brilliant, the way symbolism was used to show paro and devdas's closeness, The song sequence,e Kaahe Chhede after more piya was very suggestive.

That Aside,

SLB ruined the novel.

I totally respect your opinion, but I such had to post this. I'm probs bias since I'm a huge fan, but I really think this is one of those movies where she stood out among the strong performers b/c of the pain and pride she has in her eyes. I had no problem in her delievery, but granted it may seem weak to others. But the way her eyes speak to Devdas--like she totally loves him, but the insult of her family and the her own self-pride stops her. I just love the Hamesha Tumko Chaha song so much b/c it sums up the confusion/pain in their hearts and hints at the doom to come. I just had to post this...not to change your opinion or anything, but just to point of one of her stronger scenes.

Also, I totally agree with your Dev D comment. The modern adaptation is spectacular. It seems like a film Quentin Tarantino would make. And I hated how people kept saying everyone was so "tharki" in the movie. A lot of people don't appreciate the sexual overtones, which were presence in SLB's version too, but more subtle. Abhay Deol is a fine class actor, but so underrated.

I loved the movie never cried so much, yeah maybe for the movie titanic. The end scene of Devdas is so sad, and when Paro gets married. Aishwarya and SRK were amazing in this movie. I still think Devdas is SRK best work. Something different then the Rahuls of Chopra and the KJO movies.
