Sons to the rescue

We all know of David Dhawan's love for comedies. But having worked with senior actors such as Govinda, Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, to name a few, the veteran director had almost negligible experience of working with youngsters.

So when it came to revamping the original Chashme Baddoor, which starred Farooq Shaikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi and Ravi Baswani, David was in a fix. He knew he wanted a fresh cast for the remake, but he didn't know how to go about it.

That's when his sons Varun and Rohit Dhawan came to his rescue. Both the boys knew that the film is extremely special to their dad and they wanted to help him take the right decisions.

Confirming the news, David says, "Yes, both Varun and Rohit were instrumental in convincing me to make this film. Initially, I was a bit unsure regarding the cast. But Rohit kept telling me that I was doing the right thing. Their belief in the film helped me make up my mind."

According to insiders, while Varun helped his dad with inputs in choreography, Rohit supported him in finalising the cast.

Now, it remains to be seen if the valuable suggestions fetch valuable returns at the box office.
