Mani Ratnam, Ashtoush Gowariker, Subhash Ghai are all filmmakers people died to work with back in the day. 😭 What do these three directors have in common? All of them are in the gutter today. Mani had so many great films to his credit (such as Dil Se, Yuva, Guru, etc.). Then two bad films in the form of Raavan and his latest Kadal have made him beg for work. I hope he revives Lajjo with Aamir and Bebo. Ashtoush also has been in a slump since Jodhaa Akbar. No new film has been announced and he is at a standstill. And Subhash Ghai hasn't been in form since Taal. 😲 It is same to assume he is over. But, he keeps making films and his latest Mishti sounds lame. Do you still think Mani, Ashtoush, and Subhash have a chance? And it is so ironic that one actress (who we all know and love ) did her best work with these three. Please share your thoughts. What happened to MANI, ASHTOUSH, SUBHASH????

No director can really be on top forever lol

Mani Ratnam made 1 bad film and now no one wants him

Ashtoush Gowariker made Lagaan for god sakes then he made Swades which ok then Jodha Akbar which was also a hit. The he made 2 flop films. Now he is done

Subhash Ghai like Yash Chopra is too old to be in A league. He is a legend and everyone respects but I do not see anyone wanting to work with him.

Directors it is hard to be keep up and succeed

Rakumar Hirani , Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty, Imtiaz Ali, and Dibaker Banerjee are only ones that are consistent

Is it a big coincidence that after working with Aishwarya Rai all three directors went downwards.
Mani- Raavan
Ashutosh- Jodha Akbar
Subhash- Taal

I think Comparing Mani to other two is not right...they are bad for different reasons now

Mani has been in industry for good 30 to 40 years..and every movie of his has been pathbreaking or atleast good untill Guru...if you do so much creative stuff ...you definately will go down sometime...3 Films mentioned in the OP are not even close to great films he did...Roja , Nayagan,Bombay, Anjali, geetanjali...and many more

Ashutosh is decent...but I think Ghai is one of the over rated directors ever...I mean he is good and he did good films...but 90% of the movies of his will not stand the test of time...but Lagaan will...Jodha Akbar will...and Almost all mani movies will...I mean people still watch Roja...Nayagan and all his 1980 movies...

Ram Gopal Varma is one more director in the leagues of Mani..but has become absolute crap...I mean it is pretty hard to believe the RGV of Satya, Rangeela, Shiva, Kshanakshanam,. Kaun, Company, Bhooth,Daud,Sarkar...is the same RGV who is making aag and department and all the crap...

I think Creative film makers do have an expiry date unlike Masala film makers who can keep doing the same thing and still be praised...like Yash Chopra...he could still be doing the same switzenrland songs and people will praise him...

Subhash- Taal
🤣

What are you talking about? 😕 Aish gave critical and commercial successes with these directors. Guru was a hit and the Tamil version of Raavan was a success. Don't blame the Hindi failure of Raavan on Aish. Abhishek ruined it. Jodhaa Akbar was a success due to Hrithik as well. And Taal was her follow-up success to Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Can't say the same for other actresses. 😉

What are you saying Khalnayak , ram Lakhan , karma these are Films no one forgets .

As for your dig on yash Chopra yes he known mostly for love stories . But he made films like deewar and kaala patthar .

But your right I didn't like it when he said dabanng should've had a social message when rarely any of YCs films have them 😆

They got lost in the rat race and lets face it barring Subhash Ghai none of the others had 100 cr movie sensibilities which was when their careers started to flounder.

Aushotosh made films that werent his sensiblities nor were they interesting. Whats Your Rashee isnt his cup of tea, considering it wasnt something that he gravitates towards. Khelein Hum was a done to death topic since it was about independence. It was a badly made movie with no zest or zeal which was seen in the promos as well

Mani Ratnam started to flounder with Ravaan when he made the movie for the 'couple' and was after/around the same time as Rajneeti, following the mythical footsteps. It was too out there for the audiences to accept and it was made for the wrong reasons. you cant make a movie on great visuals and a fallacy of a hit couple.

Subhash Ghai seems to be is done with directing. He was the man of 80s and 90s and his movies reflect that. He is producing these days and someone mentioned school as well. He'll probably make another movie with Salman and get another Hit but I dont see the man ever making a GOOD movie.

And also, these are men who have given their best and quite possibly cannot topple that. How many times can you make Guru or a Jodha Akbar? Plus in the last four- five years, the audience tastes have changed and a Hrithik or Abhishek dont want do another biopic when their BO turnover stinks. And lets forget the Khans who'd take an Arbaaz assured 100 Cr than a content based Ratnam film.

You didnt read my post properly.
I never said That Ash was bad in those movies or that shes the reason they failed/worked.
I just said, its a coincidence that AFTER working with Aishwarya, all three of these directors careers went downhill.
