Bollywood cliches have been floating around for too long. May be it's time for celebrities to change the line? Here's a look at such top ten things celebs say but why?
The 100 crore club- Off late, the business of Bollywood has become about the number game. Films are exceeding one another to rule the roost at the box office. The hype behind the 100 crore club has reached a peak, making it a trending topic. While the 100 crore figure may boost the morale of a film, does it really come down to this exclusive club that producers and directors harp about? While some believe the time has come to talk about the 200 crore club, others believe that films are beyond this. Some actors even feel that if Bollywood is about 100 crores, then Hollywood is way ahead by being in the million league. Is this media hype or a way to woo audiences to theatres?
Waiting for the right script
- Everybody out of work says just that. How difficult is it to admit you're jobless? It doesn't tarnish the actor's image, just brings about more respect for the honesty and truthfulness of a statement that says I'm unemployed. Come on, everybody goes through that phase. Not getting work can mean two things- either you're not good at what you do or maybe you're exceptionally talented but not popular.
Just good friends- How many times have we heard celebs say that! In spite of being spotted with their respective partners (by fans, media and people in general), there's a tendency in Bollywood to deny these relationships! For whatever reasons, this is the age when many young celeb couples are being open about their relationship, the way they do in Hollywood. Look at Bebo for example. Or for that matter John Abraham and Priya Runchal or Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande. It's time for others to take cue.
Couldn't ask for a better debut- Whether you are a star kid or a new comer in the Hindi film industry, you don't really have a choice to choose your debut. It all depends on the director and producer. Yet debutants keep saying things like "I couldn't have asked for a better launch pad" or "It's the best debut ever". But if the film were to flop, would they say the same thing? Many later go on o say that they made the wrong choices.
Don't take critics seriously- This debate could go either way. In a large sense, it's true! Critics do tend to play favourties and can be biased. All we're saying is that this statement floats around too much! Whether they are doing their job or not, there's a reason why they exist! But it makes sense to take criticism with a pinch of salt. Indian audiences are not affected by critics anyway.
I'm single- How many times have we heard or read that? That's a big fat lie for many celebs that are in relationships. Maybe it's a way to maintain privacy and keep away from a prying media. But everybody's grown up here!
No catfights on sets- In a multi starrer, can this statement hold true? With everybody vying for equal attention, there's bound to be competition. But everybody only talks about the great bonding on sets in such instances. We wonder.
Don't care about awards- Whoever said that is lying through their teeth! Along with the moolah, recognition and business of a film, awards are important! Who doesn't want a Filmfare or for that matter, a myriad of awards that are bestowed on the best talent? Some feel awards are rigged and choose to abstain from such functions. Others feel that it's not the be all and end all of an actor's career. But the ones receiving it feel it's important to win accolades as it shows how popular they re with their fans and how good their work is.
Don't be thin, be healthy- Size zero was invented for a reason! Gone are the days when it was ok to be fat. With the new gen of actors, fitness is everything! Yet celebs say this all the time especially while endorsing brands or promoting certain products. If it was all about being only healthy, why would any one care whether they gained an inch? And why would curvaceous and voluptuous actresses be under the scanner? Then there would be no need for fitness instructors and gyms, just doctors and nutritionists!
When marriage happens, media will be the first to know- Usually the media is the last to know in such cases! Marriages happen in such secrecy and yet celeb couples pretend to be unmarried. Who are they hiding from?
