SPECIAL26 BOXOFFICE prediction!!!

Special 26 starring Akshay Kumar, Kajal Agarwal, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee is on schedule to release on 8th February 2013. It is a film based on fake CBI raid held in 1980's. It is directed by Neeraj Pandey of A Wednesday fame. Although Special 26 script looks promising, but with Akshay coming on board film is expected to do rocking business at the box office. So, what do you think whether Special 26 will be a Hit or Flop at the box office? Let's start the box office prediction of the film.

Predicting a box office figure of Akshay Kumar starrer before the release of the film is quite difficult. He is the only actor who can deliver a Rowdy and a Joker simultaneously. Although Akshay gave three big hits in 2012 in Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2 and Oh My God, similarly he gave box office dud in Joker (Disaster) and Khiladi 786 (Average) in 2012. Still one can say that Akshay Kumar is having one of the best time in his career and if his film has content it can go miles.

Special 26 misses the masala genre like Rowdy or Khiladi, but still has enough embed of masala and songs to keep routine moviegoers happy. As, per the initial buzz of the film it is less than Rowdy Rathore or Khiladi 786. But Akshay being an actor in the film, it will still garner good opening. If films has enough merit then it may have the strength to go the distance also, who knows even 100 crore is a possibility.

Budget (Film Cost) - Around 50 crore.

Amount Recovered Pre-Release - Satellite Rights - 30 crore. Music, Home Video and Others - 8 crore.

Theatrical Rights (India) - Sold to Wave Distribtuions for around 40 crore.

Total Amount Recovered by Makers - 78 crore.

Trade HIT - Since, makers have already made a profit of around 28 crore, it is already a Trade Hit before the film releases.

Clean HIT - Above 75-80 crore nett, which will means around 40 crore Distributor Share. That means all associated with S26 will recover its amount and earn profits by reaching that mark or more.

Addatoday Verdict - We have already told earlier in our post that Special 26 is one of the dark horses of the year. If content is good it can surprise all of us with humongous collections as no major film is releasing till Himmatwala which is going to release in 29th March. Although there is Murder 3 in between, but it will have minimal affect on S26 if content is good. As per Addatoday estimates Special 26 should cross 100 crore nett mark in India and will be a Super Hit or Blockbuster at the box office
