I don't think she was serious about Hollywood. It was all about doing movies in different languages for the experience. She worked in 5 English films. Bride and Prejudice did well. Provoked was critically acclaimed. Pink Panther 2 did moderate business. Last Legion and Mistress of Spices were horrible mistakes.

She said no to Will Smith 3 times and Troy with Brad Pitt. I think if she did a Will Smith film, it would have been better than doing a Pink Panther 2 at least. But, it's okay. Since she has a kid now, it will be hard for her to work overseas. Pink Panther 2 is probably her last Hollywood/international release. She will only do something in Bollywood now. 😊

If she never had so much talent in Bollywood, what would make anyone think she would success in Hollywood?

Aish has always been a weak actress (minus a few movies).

Its her Miss World crown and her so called looks and status that is taking her to such heights. Not her acting.

One of my friends had told me that she did a hot love making scene in mistress of spices. It's all over the po*n sites.She had shown almost everything in that scene. That scene was cut in India.
So it's not that she didn't wanted to do hot scenes.She had done a scene in that movie.In India people were gaga over her but nobody in Hollywood showed interest in casting her.Plus her PR spread many idiotic rumors about her signing movies she wasn't even offered. So that caused embarrassment to her and she disappeared from Hollywood.
It was kinda reality check for her.She felt Hollywood producers will die to work with her but that didn't happen.

I watched Bride and Prejudice, she was meh in it. Don't know why she didn't work, i find her to be a decent actress.

To be honest, I feel Ash's PR went into an overdrive trying to establish her as an international star after she won some more global beauty titles/polls in 2002 and went to Cannes. They still hype her as world's biggest star or queen bee of Bollywood which she is not. Every compliment she got for her looks from international celebrities was blown out of proportion by media as if Hollywood was dying to work with her.

She hasn't done anything much except crossover films. And I feel it was all more of an exercise in creating hype around herself which she did. The stuff about acting is all talk. Real deal is to stay relevant, popular and in the news - which she did, as a beauty.

I don't think she could've made it in Hollywood. She wasn't even a top draw in Bollywood, neither an actress to reckon with except a few films.

There was nothing about her persona that would attract a Hollywood audience. She was from the era of trying to be as innocent and blameless as possible without one controversial OR individual thing about her personality.

I don't know if that's what the Indian audiences of Ash's heyday wanted from its women...that they be beautiful ciphers...but no way in hell would that fly with an American audience. We didn't like our women to personality-less ciphers whose main purpose on earth was to look beautiful and hook a man since The Lonedale Operator became a huge hit back in 1911.

Even when Marilyn Monroe made films she usually played not just a hot, mantrap but a KNOWING hot mantrap with an agenda aside from being a blamelessly domestic wife and mother.

We appreciated her as a beautiful objet d'art from Exotic India, but, as she marketed herself, she just fit nowhere into our cinematic life.

Simple because she was not interested in Hollywood career she only went there because she had no work in bolllywood at least in big movies. She lost 6 big movies to Rani, Preity etc because of the Khans problem. Watch Simi interview you will see. Otherwise she has no time for hollywood movies.

Yeah because of the kissings scenes she reject a lot of movies.

So she took hollywood work which was coming her way because of Devdas! But with the marriage with Abhi somehow she concentrate totally in India again. But still did movies in other language's Robot, Raavanan and even Pink Panter.
