Aish couldn't carry a film on her shoulders either bhai. Chokher Bali, Umrao Jaan, Dil Ka Rishta, etc. bombed miserably. I probably am the only one who likes Umrao Jaan in this forum. 😳 J.P. Dutta made such a beautiful film. I appreciated the songs and acting Aish did.

She carried the role in Jodhaa Akbar, Provoked and Raincoat with much conviction. Moreover, I find her a more matured person than Kajol in real life. Kajol is a brat!

I don't know if Bride and Prejudice counted as a solo film even though it was non-Bollywood because that was a hit worldwide, not in India though. I didn't watch AR's Umrao Jaan, just for the simple reason that Aishwarya Rai CANNOT (for crying out loud) pronounce Urdu words properly. She doesn't know the difference between the basic consonants of Urdu and Hindi (the aspirated vs the guttural ones). Umrao Jaan is a classic novel that calls for the clarity of language - it's a piece of literature that's incomprehensible by those who are obvious of the language and the grace it stands for.

Anyway, I was much convinced with Rekha's Umrao Jaan that I decided to not bother with AR's one any further. That was my only reason.

I would love to see kajol again but not in karan johar or yashraj movie.I want her to do simple roles like sridevi did in EV. In fact I wished kajol would have done the role instead of sridevi.It would have been a refreshing change for us to see kajol in a simple middle class housewife role.
