It is hypocrisy out there. Married men or divorced ones get a new wife easily. But where's society's modern outlook when it comes to divorced women?

Truth be told actresses are not attracted to older/divorced/previously married men. They marry them because it's tough for them to get males suitable for their age and stature. Most actresses work till age of 30 and by that time it is hard to find men of similar age group who are single and successful enough to match up to actress' status. So they end up marrying a much older or second hand type guy.

And the men are only too happy to get a new, younger and perfect trophy wife.

There's a lot of hypocrisy among industry bachelors too. Most of them either want to marry a woman who is "simple" and traditional and avoid marrying an actress. Many young actors have gone on record to declare they wouldn't like to marry someone from the industry. They'll date actresses but won't marry them. And even if they do, they'll expect them to give up work at once after marriage.

True for most, but not all.
Kareena was only 27 when she met Saif and fell for him. 😊
Twas a bike ride in the country in Ladakh that did it for her apparently 😆

@desigal90

I didn't particularly point out Saifeena. All I can say is that women marrying an older man has not just got to do with love or attraction. They take the man's powerful family background, wealth, established success - everything in consideration. (Hema Malini had many actors pining for her, the late Sanjeev Kumar who was a bachelor was madly in love with her. But she instead chose the much-married Dharmendra because he was more successful than Sanjeev Kumar and obviously more glamorous also!)

Also actresses may have hordes of admirers running after them but not necessarily guys who'd truly like to marry them and settle down with them. Sridevi, Zeenat Amaan, Parveen Babi had affairs with many men but most of them did not commit to them and just wanted to keep it limited to an affair.

Honestly speaking I find it weird that marriage or kids are matter of debate. I believe these are matters of heart and personal choice. One logic doesn't apply to all here.

In Hema malini's case she chose to stay separately! Dharam stays with his first wife & sons and hema stays separately with her daughters!
And i think dharam din't divorce his first wife!

The notions about older or divorced men being more mature, grounded or experienced or more likely to make better husbands is funny.

Kamal Haasan married and divorced twice or thrice and in addition to it he had multiple affairs throughout his life with much younger girls. Same for Sanjay Dutt. Manyata is his third wife. You never know if the man will divorce his wife again and move over to a new one.

Several men keep shifting between all wives. Boney Kapoor never formally divorced Mona. Dharmendra has also kept both wives (nowadays he lives with his former wife).

So age or experience doesn't necessarily make men better.

Mahesh Bhatt should STFU. Funny how he so badly wants young girls to be accepting of second hand men but no comment at all about divorced older women marrying again. So much for being progressive. 🤢

As far as actresses go, they primarily marry older divorced men because they tend to be richer and more established because they've had more years obviously. A 25 year old actor can't provide the excessive rich lifestyle a 45 year old can. The older men tend to be richer and more powerful and will treat the trophy wife like a prize since they know they lucked out by getting her and couldn't have done any better.

Big deal! Though its not right to equate Hema Malini, Helen, Sarika with Kareena and Vidya.

Successful actresses work till their early 30s at the max and till that age they hardly have suitors of their stature. THe world over the society is biased towards women for whatever reasons-ageing, fertility etc. Older Men and younger women is the norm and its improbable to break this mindset. Industrialists marry women from common background or simpletons. They dont go for glamour and marry off their sons early on say by 25 yrs. The girls chosen are from similar background and certainly not movies or modeling. The actresses hardly have a choice, their contemporary male stars marry late or chose a commoner again. The only actresses to marry at the peak is Kajol and that to a less successful star (AD) at that time. Unless the mindset changes we will continue to see actresses marrying already married or divorced or widower. The only successful guy to marry a divorcee with a child is Anil Kumble. Respect him for that.

Anupam Kher married Kirron, who was also divorced with a child, Sikander. From TV, Ram Kapoor also married a divorced woman. I think Dino Morea is dating Nandita Mahtani, who was previously married to Sanjay Kapur, Karisma Kapoor's current loser husband.

Sachin Tendulkar married an older woman too, though she was single and not previously married. Farah Khan also married a guy 7-8 years younger than her.

These are the people who are truly breaking social norms and moving things forward. What the heck is so special about old men marrying young girls? It's been going on for centuries and has always been a part of patriarchal society where older women are discarded and young second and third wives are flaunted.
