I wont go all ballistic cuz u have Resham in your siggy (and i love her) but SERIOUSLY Tanya?? Juhi was never that big a deal and CERTIANLY NOT bigger than Karishma or Kajol. She had one offbeat year and that was 1993, other than that she in no way was ever a threat to Madhuri, Kajol or Karishma. In fact her peak ended on a very bad note with movies like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustaani and 12 ka 4. Jhui has great comic timming but she was never that great of an actress. After flop movies and a certain age she was not the first choice for directors and certainly not for lead roles.

So, I'm guessing she wants to continue working but has no chance ever of landing a lead role and therefore she works in supporting roles. That way she can be compared to the likes of Raveena and Sonali but definitely not in the leagues of Madhuri or Kajol.

P.S Don't get me wrong, I love Jhui but facts are facts.

Juhi Chawla has always been a maverick and someone who used her heart more than her head. She managed to topple Madhuri and Sridevi in 1993 with Darr and HHRPK but she did not get aggressive about her career as an actress. She's said to have refused major films like Raja Hindustani, DTPH, Mrityudand - all of which either became big hits or gained critical acclaim. She herself once admitted she regretted some choices she made.

I think she's doing pretty well for herself. She was loved a lot in Kurkure ads. Her different avatars in those were compared to Aamir's different avatars in Coke ads. She won acclaim and critics' choice awards for films like Teen Deewarein, Bas Ek Pal, My Brother Nikhil etc.

SOS type films she does only for friends I guess.

Even when she was young she did not do much to network within industry or vie for good offers. She could never make most of past success either. She was just too honest, simple and easy going. It's a miracle she managed to survive even as long as she did!

Her acting abilities are praised now but in 90s she was just known as a cute child-woman type leading lady who appeared in light hearted roles.

I like her for being herself. She never had any hang ups about herself in past. She doesn't behave like a diva even now.

Fact is that (which all bollywood fans r aware of) that Juhi was more popular than kajol and karishma when she retired (1997) ... karishma remained behind her and even Kajol despite been in many hits after Juhi's retirement.
Sridevi, Madhuri and Juhi Chawla were used to be considered top 3 actresses of hindi cinema of 90's for a long time, and rest every name used to come after them as far as popularity is concerned.

Ruining her image! 😕 . As for her choices of movies well i think it is fine. yeah wish she could work with a mani rathman, or yashraj movie, slb, etc. But she still doing oke for herself.

She hasn't ruined her image. She's doing great doing supporting roles...got good reviews for Son of Sardaar, lately films like I Am she got good reviews so I think she's in a good place of her own she doesn't need to be playing lead roles.
