@ Kozy: SRK has always been a tremendous actor, no doubt. If I look back at Baazigar, Dar, Anjaam, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, etc, I would guarantee that no one one would have pulled those roles better than he did. Those movies were his - completely!
But over the years, I have come to realize that SRK moved away from mainstream cinema into minting money and getting recognized. His constant diplomatic statements, acting in movies with actresses half his age, jumping around and singing like a lad, etc, ruined his credibility as a matured actor. In this regard, I'd rather give credit to Salman Khan, cuz his movies suit the way he portrays himself as a person in real life. Dabangg 2, for example was very entertaining. I wish it was a bit longer. I truly enjoyed each and every scene. The action scenes were a big superficial, but what the heck, that's what true Masala Bollywood is! If SRK returns back to being himself - the true 90s King Khan, I might develop respect for him again. You never know.
@SatrangiRe: Aamir might have done three idiots in a boyish role. Yes, I agree with you that I was weirded out myself initially. But he pulled the role with ease as a dorky student, hellbent on giving Boman Irani a hard time. But then, that was probably it. He experiments things once and then quits them. The last time he played a cop was probably in Sarfarosh (correct me if I am wrong). Referring to Talaash, he must have played a cop barely like four or five times - Baazi, Aatank Hi Aatank, Sarfarosh and now Talaash. SRK plays his cheesy roles in every other movie. That's the difference.
END OF RANT!
