If it is a Quality film, Excellent Script, Oscar worth Story Line, Y those films never earns bigmoney on Box Office?

I think it has to do with the appeal of such type of movies, movies like kahaani, Barfi or even talaash appeal to only a certain section of audience which is very small

on the other hand movies like Dabang, RR or OSO appeal to larger section of audience hence the more collection,

People go to cinema Halls to get entertained and these Masala movie are made for eatertaining

I think its probably after a week long of work, people like to go and watch movies which makes them laugh, which entertains them. They just want to go and enjoy with their family and friends.

Quality films can work, even if pitched against a multistar comedy...

Best example is TZP grossing a nett 62 Cr while Welcome released on Same day with it grossed 70 Cr at box office, TZP is Super Hit n Welcome is BB.

Most important reason for films in 100 Cr Club is the Repeat Value of film.

Once viewed a film can't earn that much results, it is when ppl love the film so much that they watch it 2nd time or some 3rd time...

Barfi was aiming at 80-90 finish line when news of its oscar nomination came, newspaper ads were filled with oscar nominated kind of ads, it pushed a extra 25 cr in puting it to 105 cr ending... it manage to put it that much coz of Repeat Viewing also... even plex audience repeat makes it to such big extent...

I watched Kahaani at a delhi plex for 250 bucks... Last 4 salman films, RR, HF2, Bol Bachchan, Singham, SOS i watched 1st in SS at 75 rs & again on Plex at higher rates...

i couldn't repeat kahaani, not becoz i don't want to, i liked the film, but it couldn't hold anything that i would love 2 watch again, again i will watch on tv or dvd... but for those which i watched again, i loved things in dem, songs, comedy, action... Watching a film for me is to enjoy, if a film can entertain me 2nd or 3rd time, i won't mind going for 4th time also.
