i guess we never will! gauri appears very indifferent. Even in interviews i see srk speaks with a passion for his family and wife but she just smiles and nods along!

Gauri used to be a pretty girl in her younger days. Not a Katrina or Aishwarya in terms of looks but pretty enough. SRK looked very ordinary in comparison to her. Maybe he liked her because she was pretty. Plus we dont know the real Gauri to judge.
As to why Gauri is indifferent-she has always been uncomfortable with the media attention. She kind of freezes when she gets any.
I think despite what they appear to be to the world its great they have stuck to each other for 30 odd years.

And she supported SRK through all his thick and thins. When nobody was there, she stood by his side. And whatever Gauri is as a person ,noone can deny that she has been a wonderful wife.

Sometimes its much more than outer beauty😊

SRK was certainly not the most gorgeous actor of that time but he was always Charmingand as of Gauri, she is just one ordinary looking woman who married an ordinary man who is the superstar of bollywood now
