@Gunjan_roka
And this is for my IF soul mate for JTHJ 🤗

@Chandu
Oh sweetheart I'm not comparing the two movies. It's just that I enjoyed SOTY more than JTHJ

I had too much expectations riding on JTHJ since I waited one year to watch a SRK movie and that too a Yash Chopra one. As a viewer and a fan, I anticipated something totally different quality wise. As for SOTY, I watched it for the sake of my friend who forced me into it

Exactly. It didn't make any sense. Had she was a loyal, religous person like Jamie in 'A walk to remember', I could digest this pact thingy. But it was too much asking from audience

And that amnesia bit was typical Ekta Kapoor. Somehow I can digest something like Karan Arjun or OSO but not in a Yash Chopra movie

Akira was so jovial although she was quite OTT in few scenes. But overall I loved her. My fav scene is during the bomb defusing moment where she said Samar can love him since she makes no pacts with god 🤣 That was too funny. And oh my dad went to the movie with me and he's going ga ga over Anushka Sharma now 😆

@bold: I couldn't relate to her character since it wasn't practical. But bashed on her characterization, it made sense to me. I mean she has dictated her life around such pacts and not breaking it. So for me, her belief in her pacts and faith made complete sense especially the way her character has been developed. That's why I guess it worked for me. But I would have preferred some other reason over that any day.

With Akira, that was my favorite scene as well especially this dialogue of hers "Alag Alag accent ke bando ke sath s*x karna hain" I died laughing with my mom sitting beside me 🤣🤣🤣

But darn, Anushka looked so fit and tall. That girl has been blessed with awesome metabolic rate 😡😡

Edit: I know you weren't comparing those two movies. I was simply pulling your leg 😛

Seriously? I can imagine your mom's reactions. Uuffaa same here with my dad 🤣

But he was laughing louder than me in some scenes especially Akra's one where she asked Samar what kind of a kiss was that when he kissed her forehead. I got myself a weirdly cool dad 🤣

Yeah that gurl looks hawt and I wish I was at least as fit as her. From the new lot I like her and Deepika. Both gurls are strong and gorgeous

I think a lot of people couldn't connect with Meera's extreme faith in God. But how many of us have OCDs? It's something in your mind which you cannot control. Others may think its pathetic how you have to check the door 10 times to make sure its locked. Similarly, for Meera this deal with God is all she knew since she was a kid and it always worked in her favour. The one time she broke the deal and Samar met with an accident. So in her mind it was a sign and out of desperation she made a promise to stay away from him. It does seem unrealistic but there are many out there who have these bizarre OCDs which not everyone can connect to.

You're right in your perception Reemz and I respect your pov but I just could not digest Meera. I can't believe I'm yapping this much about a character or a movie 😆

I don't like comparing but when Zaara stayed unmarried for 20 odd years for Veer's sake, I could understand her love and I wanted her to wait for him. Sadly in this movie, I wanted either Samar to die or Meera to be with Roger. I just didn't see true love between Samar and Meera. They were attracted to each other but it looked more like a fling in my eyes. I guess one can't please everybody with a movie

-Edited
Katrina's output should be added to this as well. As an actress she failed to convince me to understand Meera

I can't blame anyone who had an issue with Meera's character. The first thing Samar said was 'Are you mad?'. Who wouldn't think Meera was dumb for actually going to the extent of giving up her love for a promise made to GOD! It's not easily digestable at all. Weirdly my younger sister who has very little interest in Bollywood films told me that she could kind of relate to Meera's weird deal because she herself has these weird OCDs (again like checking the door continuosly and shes a clean freak). Meera's OCD was on a larger scale but like I said its all she knew of. Regarding Samar-Meera's relationship, I think it was more suited to todays generation so there was a lot of physical intimacy. I saw them as a real yet dreamy couple! It was all bliss and then the second half was more about the real Yash Chopra type love where both lovers were silently pining for each other.
I am not a fan of Katrina's acting myself and I admitted in my review that when it came to the crying scenes (more so sobbing) she didn't have the effect YET there was that grace in her performance which I could not ignore. I was sucked in by her presence and I think she played Meera with a lot of dignity (credit goes to YC too)Oh and I also think SRKat were SIZZLING!

👏every one is superstitious in life...n wen something goes wrong, v blame ourselves for not following our OCD or superstition,which was wat Meera did...so i found nothing wrong with tat...it maybe stupid or childish, but practically most of us have our own set of illusions n beliefs...

Samar's character dying...a big NO...Samar challenged God tat he cared less of his life, tat why he took up the hazardous job at the Bomb disposal, not wearing his security gears- which while his flashback in London- he tells Akira tat is scared of bombs...tat just goes to show the anger he has against God...but they say na "ur destiny God decides" tats exactly wat happened...just like Neetuji says" har ishqk ka ek waqt hota hai" 😃
