yes Nadz- the reviews were not all positive and i think the length did the negative. People get a little itchy to leave when its a 3 hour movie!

There were several factors Koiza.
Negative factors for JTHJ
-Clash with SOS
-Release on Diwali which is traditionally low for BO collections
-Not happenning romantic genre
-Mixed response to promos
-Disappointing songs
-Low key promotions

Only positives were screen count, SRK and Yash Chopra factor

In contrast SOS had many things in its favor
-Massy genre
-Good response to promos
-Massy music
-High decible promotions

Only negative factors were it had 500 screens less than JTHJ and its clash with a SRK film

Bal T's death and subsequent Maharashtra bandh and closure of North India's multiplex chain Wave Cinemas due to death of owner Ponty Chada also majorly impact collections right on the crucial first weekend. These factors impacted the sectors JTHJ was doing well in more than it impacted the sectors SOS was doing well in.

Also the negativity associated with the film was unprecedented. I dont think I have seen some much negativity on any film in the recent past. Apart from the usual fan wars most media trashed the film and let out huge spoilers. There was a certain section of the audience ready to hate the film even before seeing it and they merrily spread all the spoilers. It was so bad that I had to take a break from any kind of media as I intended to watch the film no matter what. But how many would be brave enough to watch the film despite so much negativity?

So IMO the film did quiet well despite all the negativity it had to face.

No I am sure I read 80 Crs somewhere including promotions. 30-40 crs was the cost of medium budget movie like TDP which didnt have any action sequences.

Shreya, I saw nothing but positivity for JTHJ before its release, especially out of respect for the late Yash Ji. If anything, I feel even critics were hesitant to criticize the film initially due to the sensitive situation. But I guess later they went about how they normally do.
Eh, negativity was no less for Heroine. Especially on THIS forum. Certain fans have off vindictive vibes due to karma, or something ridiculous like that.
