@ Rachana...I get it what u r saying...no one can understand it better than me ...because I got married the same way😆...
Ya societal pressures are there...but these are all external pressures...in Meera's case...there were no external pressures...they were all inside her...from her beliefs and her way of thinking...that is the similarity I wanted to point out...but lets leave it here now...I am begining to feel like I am sitting in a psychology class...going back and forth on this..😆...

All I'm trying to say is that in GENERAL, people expect more from SRK than they expect from say, Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan. That's all.

Obviously, there is nothing wrong with liking this movie. If a person can like shitty films like ETT or Ready (they're pretty shitty imo), then liking JTHJ is no crime and doesn't make anyone look stupid. Same way, not liking the movie doesn't make anyone look stupid either.

By the whole 'believing' part, I basically meant that I didn't pay any heed to any big claims made by YRF team about the movie. By now, I can tell when producers are just trying to make the movie the best thing for promotions only. Ofcourse, the rest of the public may perceive something else and have other expectations. Its completely fine!
Liking or disliking a movie can hardly make anyone stupid ...if someone didn't like 3Idiots, I wouldn't call them dumb. That kinda movie just may not be their kind of entertainment.

However, one point is that why do ppl have so many expectations ONLY from SRK? I mean, after Tere Naam (a movie where the popular opinion holds that Sallu actually acted), why don't ppl expect stuff from him? And then there is Akshay...is he a bad actor? I don't think so...then why are ppl so prone to accepting all his flicks (w/ all the recent ones being masala movies), but start criticizing Shah when he does a movie that has flaws, but still a decent story? What about Ajay? Isn't he supposedly a better and a more versatile actor than all these Khans? Why do ppl so easily accept his masala movies?

Personally, I also do prefer SRK in movies like Swades or CDI, but at the same time, he has entertained me through films like OSO too. Right now what is working w/ the general public are these masala movies...now if SRK also wants to make money this way and achieve a higher status (like every other A-lister these days), then what's so wrong with that? Because, to be very honest, films like Swades didn't work that well in bwood (in terms of collections), they didn't do much except earn him more critical acclaim. At this point in his career when starpower is only compared to your box office success and Salman has quite unexpectedly been beating everyone in the race, I think there is a lot more pressure on him. And prolly that's why he has been signing movies like HNY or Chennai Express w/ a stupid director like Rohit Shetty! He is in a tight situation more or less, doesn't wanna loose his stardom to someone like Sallu (who doesn't even bother acting in movies, yet his films rake in the moolah these days)...I can understand where he is coming from...

PS: Sorry, its sounding more like a rant than a reply...been meaning to say it for really long :I *sigh*

khoslakadhokla, I don't have it in me to go on with this further too much. 😆 I don't know why people expect more out of SRK, but seems like they just do, ESPECIALLY, because since the past few years when it has come to logic, Salman, Ajay, and Akshay have disappointed time and again. This puts more pressure in SRK, obviously. Same thing applies to Aamir...I guess people just expect more "smart" films from these two since Salman and others are just not capable of delivering those kind of films. As for me...all these Khans, Kumar, Devgn, Roshan, Kapoors, Kaif, Chopra, Balan, etc...they're the same for me - all I really expect from each of them is a good movie (obviously, what is good for me, may not be for others).
