Can someone just answer one thing?

Why does Kat keep getting cast as the British girl in several movies when her accent isn't even British!?

You always see in Hollywood that when actors are playing characters from different countries, they change their accents. You even see it in Bollywood at times. Like SRK tried to sound like a fob (for a lack of a better word) in JTHJ, but Katrina just didn't sound British, or even try to. And it seemed so inconsistent with the fact that in flashback, her younger self had the accent (+ she was Caucasian but we won't get into that).

Yeah I agree that JTHJ is also a masala film, just a different type of it, in a different way. Masala doesn't equate to only those physics defying films..masala is "don't use logic" type films, and love stories 99.99% of time fall into that bracket 😆

I think one main problem WAS the cast (besides Shah of course). Kajol, Rani, Madhrui, Juhi, Kareena, Priyanka, Vidya, etc...would all have lifted the mediocre script to another level. Katrina is not experienced enough or good enough to rise above a faulty script...and even Anushka was good, but didn't blow me away. Two different actress combinations would have been much better..I can just imagine what Kajol and Rani would have taken this faulty script too.

masala = adhereing to the norms i.e formulaic...not going out of the box or anything and tht is exactly wht they did with JTHJ...they made it exactly like srk's earlier films which have worked in the past...its not like they made a film on women's hockey team and made tht a blockbuster...they made a film on the tried n tested formula...hence it is masala...

srk in a romantic movie with a guitar/mandolin down his back, fake necking smiluations and sappy dialogues abt "Rab" and "ishq" = check
two heroines = check
phoren locationzzz = check
rona dhona = check
manish malhotra costumes = check

that is as masala as it can get...its just a different brand of masala thts it...😆

Action: check

No logic: check

It is a masala film and as illogical as ETT... 😆

Salman made ETT totally watchable and SRK made JTHJ totally watchable... 👍🏼

Aditi, because they think she is British in real life and it's the easiest way to explain her accent. 😆 It's easiest to say she's British then to try to figure out where that accent is from??

Shahrukh just found out she's not even British on KBC when she was trying to save herself because she didn't know the question about Britain and he made so much fun of her..😆 Maybe now she will be cast as Chinese as she is from Hong Kong 😆

^^see come to think of it, although yash chopras past films were gr8, they still had faults like JTHJ did...Sisila had a ridiculous climax, Kabhie kabhie had some annoying characters whoz motivations werent clear, Lamhe had a lolitaesque story line where mother n daughter look exactly the same...those films werent exactly logical either...

but those had gr8 actors to lift the film and make us feel all the emotions, the love, the romance etc...there was a dramatic conflict point...like infidelity, or age difference/borderline incestious nature of the relationship like in lamhe...that made those stories more interesting and we actually rooted for the characters...

but here u have kat "leaving" srk like she "leaves" chocolates n ciggarates... thts the importance u give to ur so called love of life?...hes equatable to an inatimate object thts just a medium of pleasure tht u can "give up" for the sake of a wish?

the entire notion of love in the movie rings soo hollow...

I wouldn't say JTHJ is illogical, but I would call it silly as blue-ice once said. But yes, JTHJ is definitely a masala flick. This one's a romantic one, and the others are mindless comedies/action.

@Himani, it's so annoying though. Like she doesn't even sound British. I don't even know what country her accent originates from. I feel so ignorant right now.

She does kinda sound like my international friends from Hong Kong. Their English is so nice. 😆
