I loved Preity in Veer Zaara, however Sridevi in Chandni and Lamhe was something else. It cannot be described. When I think of YRF heroines.. she is the only one who comes to my mind. Dancing in the rain wearing white, Sridevi looked stunning and attractive. Yash Chopra presented his female protagonist as a dream. It was just pure magic.

There was something about Yash ji's direction. He always made his heroines look special.

But my vote will go to my all-time favourite Yash Chopra Heroine - Sridevi. She weaved her magic with Chandni and Lamhe :)

Madhuri was magical in Dil To Pagal Hai. The character of Pooja was very simple - but totally believable. I believed in her kind of love. I still do!

But Sridevi has shown a lot more depth in Yash Chopra films. And she looked stunning in Chandni + Lamhe - 2 great performances.

He was the quintessential director of romance whose penchant for love triangles often put audiences and even the hero in a dilemma! With a career spanning more than fifty years, he gave hits like Silsila, Lamhe, Dil Toh Pagal Hain, Chandni, Daag, Darr and the list is endless. With his expertise at depicting romance, he made the emotion believable and also shaped the career of actress like Rekha, Jaya Bachchan, Sridevi and Rakhee, by portraying them in avatars never seen before on the silver screen. Here's a look at his top 10 romantic heroines:
As one of Yash Chopra's classic love stories, Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor starrer Chandni brought out the intensity, chemistry, passion and madness about two lovers who were destined to be together.
This film truly brought out the greatest love triangle in the history of Indian cinema, said to be largely inspired by the true life story and love triangle between Amitabh, Rekha and Jaya.
This film was ahead of its times. In this epic love story, Sridevi was at her funny and charming best as she played dual roles of an older and younger woman in love with one man: Anil Kapoor. Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan, Sridevi tries through out the film too woo Anil Kapoor who is in love with her mother and is much older to her. As they say, try, try try till you succeed. And that's exactly what happened with Sridevi in the film.
Rakhee and Amitabh's love story in Kabhi Kabhi was heart wrenching to best describe it. As lovers who part ways and marry different people, life brings them face to face once again to confront their past. But in the ends, all's well that ends well. Rakhi is happily married to Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh is married to Waheeda Rehman.
In yet another Yash Chopra love triangle, Rajesh Khanna is in love with Sharmila Tagore and due to unfortunate circumstances, the two part ways. He later meets Rakhee and marries her until circumstances bring him face to face with his past.
Someone somewhere is made for you, the phrase from Yash Chopra's Dil Toh Pagal Hai created waves amongst youngsters. The movie depicts the love life of dancers in a musical dance troupe, each having different perspective towards love. One doesn't believe in love, the other believes love is friendship where as the other states that someone is made for each of them. This romantic saga gave birth to a different era altogether.
Darr was Bollywood's romantic psycho thriller where an obsessed lover goes to any length to get his love-Juhi Chawla, who is happily married to some other guy. Though the movie was about a violent lover, the romance from the movie is still cherished.
In his latest directorial venture which sadly Yash Chopra could not live to see, Shahrukh Khan is entangled in a web of love between Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. It remains to be seen who SRK ends up with. After all, Yash Chopra had a penchant for love triangles. This is the first time that Katrina and Shahrukh share screen space.
Yash Chopra's Veer Zaara set love cross boundaries. Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta charmed one and all in this never seen before romance. As SRK always emphasized that if anyone wants to be a part of a love story, act in Yash Chopra's films. This saga too created a new record in Indian cinema.
Karishma Kapoor's love for Shahrukh Khan in this movie brought tears to everyone's eyes. In this scene, Karishma Kapoor confesses her love for Shahrukh and feels bad that she's not happy for him as he's in love with Madhuri Dixit. One of the most poignant scenes from a Yash Chopra film.
