Ekta Kapoor teams up with Priyanka Chopra - Page 2

Actress,Priyanka Chopra is riding high on the success of her recent films, her new music single and her upcoming projects. Excerpts from the interview:

Your personal life has been much talked about. Are you indifferent to it?
I agree, I am always written about. However, I can't be indifferent to it because I am an independent girl living under the public glare. I don't discuss or flaunt my private life. I am shy and reserved and want to keep it that way, unless I have something big to say. Speculation and rumour will always be a part of my life. You make your peace with it but it's upsetting when something is written that has nothing to do with the truth. If I talk about it, five more stories will be written, giving life to something that should be killed. I prefer keeping mum.

Reports say that Katrina Kaif was offered your role in Gunday. Your reaction?
I am doing the film. I don't know if somebody was doing it or was approached earlier. All I know is Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) spoke to me about the film and I liked it. In the past, I have done roles which another actor may have been approached for or replaced. There have been times when I have opted out of films and other actresses have done them. I don't understand why such a big deal is being made about it. After all, it's the credits in the film that matter not the history or geography of who is doing it.

Don 2, Agneepath and now Barfi!. How does it feel to deliver three Rs100-crore films?
It's incredible, especially when a film like Barfi!, which is different, does so much business. We never expected the kind of positivity and affection it has got. Having said that, I think it's unfair to put pressure, as every film can't do such business. It depends on the budget. You can't take away from the success of The Dirty Picture because it didn't touch ' 100 crore. It was made on a smaller budget. Even Vicky Donor was a colossal hit. This '100-crore business is a recent phenomenon. I am proud to be a part of three films that did so much business, we don't make a film thinking like that.

Tell us how did you go about playing Jhilmil in Barfi!?
It is the most difficult role I have ever played. First of all, it's not an author-backed role nor is it a female-oriented film like Fashion. I am seen only for 40-45 minutes in the film. But the reaction has been tremendous. I am known for my glamorous image. When Anurag (director Anurag Basu) approached me, he told me people have to forget Priyanka and see Jhilmil, otherwise the film will fail. We did several workshops, spent a lot of time with autistic kids and their parents.

What next?
I will start work on Krrish 3, there's the Zanjeer remake, Milan Talkies andGunday.
