First of all let me say that I am a huge fan of old bollywood and completely love many old movies and songs hence my topic is not about if old bollywood movies were better than new bollywood movies. My topic is about the hypocrisy. I opened this topic because in this forum I have always seen comments like "ohh I want old bollywood back, ohhh old bollywood was so different from today bolllywood", "ohhh old movies had so many innocent scenes and decent scenes, today it's all revealing sex etc.." let's discuss this.
First of all everyone complains about actresses today doing lots of surgeries and hence not looking natural anymore and that old beauties were natural etc. I am sorry but that's false, if you look at the black and white movies and most of the 70's and 80's movies then you will see that all actresses used fake hair styles, 10 kg make up so I don't get how they looked more natural than actresses today.
About skin show, then yes not all actresses showed much skin but there were some who did especially the likes like Helen, Zeenat Aman in all the famous songs from the disco time you have zeenat showing her breasts. So it's not like everyone was covered then also mumtaz and the likes who did worn ghagra cholis were showing lots of skin and much cleavage.
Bold cinema existed those days too it's just that it didn't become so famous like today, the zeenat movie called satyam shivam is very bold, her breasts are exposed completely.
Item numbers is not something new, Helen was the item queen and many other item numbers existed too, so it's not like item numbers got born in 2000's.
Many actresses today gets trashed for their acting and those people say "Oh these actresses would never have got a chance in 70's and 80's) I am sorry but that's wrong. The likes of Zeenat Aman and Parveen bhabi existed and they are known for their glamorous roles and songs they aren't known for acting.
Affairs is not something new, it's just that because of the technological progress that we today know everything about bollywood affairs, earlier it existed too even on this forum it was posted that raj kapoor or some kapoor actor did grap a now senior bollywood actresses breast.
Copy and inspiration from west is nothing new either, many old bollywood songs are inspired by western music etc.
My point is that old bollywood indeed had values which bollywood today doesn't have but it's not like it was flawless it had also many of the things which bollywood have.
