HEROINE has been in the news for a long time. It is known by one and all that originally, the lead actress in the film portraying the title role of the film was supposed to be Aishwariya Rai Bacchan, but of course, after her pregnancy, those plans fell apart. This gave the entry of the role to Kareena Kapoor.
Kareena Kapoor has been in the industry for a decade, and her accomplishments are well known. All Time Blockbusters like 3 IDIOTS and BODYGUARD, as well as Blockbusters like KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM and GOLMAAL 3, have cemented her superstardom. Films like JAB WE MET made her noticed in the eyes of the public for her acting talent. Also, of course, the fact that she is good looking has also made her noticed throughout her career.
Some believe that she is currently the number one female star in Bollywood, especially after being in so many big and successful films (3 IDIOTS immediately comes to mind). Now, with Madhur Bhandarkar's HEROINE, Kareena Kapoor is all set to take her career a notch even higher!
Come to think of it, the promos of HEROINE may remind one of THE DIRTY PICTURE. The two films seem to have the same type of theme, in relation to a top actress having a downward spiral in the respective stories of the two films. Of course, one difference though being that THE DIRTY PICTURE was more of a mass-appealing film, while HEROINE is more of a class-appealing film.
Director Madhur Bhandarkar has directed some acclaimed films. Films like FASHION and PAGE 3 come to mind when one thinks of his praised films. Madhur seems to have worked hard on HEROINE.
So, how do I think HEROINE will fare at the box office? I feel that the film will find appreciation from the class/multiplex type of audience, and it is this audience that will make the film successful. ALSO, THIS FILM WILL PROVE TO BE A TURNING POINT IN KAREENA KAPOOR'S CAREER! The gorgeous actress will deliver a performance that will earn her a ton of praise. Kareena Kapoor will likely win the Best Actress Award at many award functions!

Opening Day: 6.50 crore net
Opening Weekend: 23 crore net
Lifetime Collections: 45 crores net
Overall Box Office Verdict: Hit
So, what will happen to those involved with the film?
For director Madhur Bhandarkar, he can add another well-praised film of his to his list, after giving well praised films like FASHION and PAGE 3. And yes, he will get box office success too with HEROINE.
Most importantly though, the one to benefit the most from HEROINE, will be undoubtedly, Kareena Kapoor. The hot actress will receive huge appreciation for her acting. As I mentioned above, this film will prove to be a turning point in her career!
