Priyanka Chopra is very versatile: Sridevi
Priyanka has been flooded with phone calls and tweets due to much similarity of her character to Sridevi's in Sadma. Even Sridevi acknowledges her talent.
Barfi's recently released song 'Aashiyan' is creating a lot of buzz on the web these days. Priyanka who plays the character of a mentally challenged girl in the film, is constantly being compared to the role played by Sridevi in the film Sadma.
Priyanka has been flooded with phone calls and tweets due to much similarity of her character to Sridevi's in Sadma (1983). Priyanka's spokesperson says, "After 'Aashiyan' went on air, a lot of people compared her character to Sridevi's in Sadma. She has been getting a lot of messages to that effect."
Director Anurag Basu explains, "People might feel so because the last film that featured a female actor in a mentally-challenged role was Sadma. But the comparisons are only on the basis of the promo. Once you see the film, everything will be clear".
Sridevi acknowledging Priyanka's talent says "She is very versatile. Look at Kaminey and Saat Khoon Maaf, she's superb." Not just that, PC who keeps experimenting with her looks will be seen going completely de-glam for this film. Anurag confesses that he was completely nervous about the audiences' reaction for the film promos. He says, "Priyanka and Ranbir are doing non-glamourous roles. I wondered how people would react".
Talking about filming in Kolkata, he says, "We shot on the streets around real crowds with hidden cameras. By the time people realized that Priyanka and Ranbir were there, we were off to the next location."
