yes ra 1 was a damp squib, but more for srk, not for kareena kapoor. she got lots of praises from critics, and i know she will make sure to add this chammak challo in her resume.

forget about others when we talk about ram leela and bhansali. you tell me, don't you want to see kareena in a bhansali movie than doing a prakash jha movie..especially after heroine and talaash. yes, i know bhansali records, i know he screws up big time, BUT i also know that he takes care of his heroines, presents them beautifully, gracefully, the dances, the songs, the lavish sets, the costumes...

many say kareena lacks grace...don't you think this was a challenge for bhansali and kareena to show everyone ...that if given the "ladies director" you can make this happen. I wanted to see that challenge kareena take...i don't want to see her draped in a white dhoti in prakash jha movie...yet...hell i dont' think kareena needs to prove she can act...i wanted kareena and bhansali to take us to a fantasy land...

no matter how much you say you dont' care kareena is not doing bhansali movie..I KNOW you care, and you know I CARE. even tho i thrashed bhansali and srk devdas. yes there i said it.

and desu...if i am not wrong hum dil de chuke sanam was first offered to kajol, she refused, and it went to ash..rest is history...

ram leela offered to kareena, now IF it goes to deepika, who is graceful, CAN dance, showed that if given a right role,, she can easily fit in...cocktail...what if history repeats again.

Loved reading your post. The part in bold had me laughing. Just want to add my two cents.

SLB is one of my fav directors I thought he created magic with his first two films, when I watched Devdas I wondered if it was made by the same man, only the last 5 minutes when Paro is running to Devdas did I see magic. I know a lot of people loved Black but it didn't click with me and the less said about Sawariya the better. Now on to RL (I know it's not confirmed but I'm going with DP as Leela) it seems that he is trying to woo the box office back by making a pucca masala love story, he needs a hit big time.

As much as I cant stand Kareena I still acknowledge that she is talented and has star power, but I don't know if at this point in her career a RL would do anything for her. I think after a Heroine and possibly Taalash it would have been a step back for her. That's if her roles in these films are as great and she makes them out to be. On the other hand a RL would do wonders for DP careers who is still at the cusp of super stardom. Ever since I saw OSO I've wanted DP to work with SLB because I know he'd be able to create the same kind of magic with her as he did with Ash. DP has proved herself with Cocktail whereas Ash was not considered an actress when he took her in HDDCS, so thats a head start. DP is a classic Indian beauty with grace, great dancing skills and someone who in a year or two, I could see bagging best actress awards. Someone who could follow in the footsteps of past actress/dancing sensations ie Vijantimala, Hema, Sri and Mads.

I've read a few comments on how KK is a bigger star than DP and would have been a better choice, but they need to remember Bhansali's first film Khamoshi was written with MD in mind but after she refused MK got the role (MD was a bigger star than Manisha), Manisha's performance is considered one of her careers best and as much as I Love MD (DIE HARD FAN!) I'm glad she didn't do it as MK brought an innocence to the role that I don't think MD could've. Then came HDDCS which was first offered to Kajol, but when she said no SLB went to Ash (Kajol was a bigger star than Ash). SLB could have gone to Karisma or Urmilla who were in Kajol's league and her contemporaries but instead he went to Ash who was considered a flop actress. The film ended up being the breakthrough film for Ash and she bagged all the awards that year. So yeah Kareena might be a bigger draw now but things could be different after RL. So Briahna I am hoping history does repeat itself.

And what do you mean he "used" "abused" her? You think when Saif was making the film, he knew it wouldnt work? Saif was shocked by Agent Vinod's fate. Read any interview of Saif's, and he'll confess how he thought that Agent Vinod was the superhit they were making that would stand out in the year, while Dinesh was focusing on the rom com (cocktail). Sriram was surprised and still is. Just read his interview.

SAIF wanted Kareena to do stunts. SAIF wanted her to train. Sriram had combat scenes planned out in his head. KAREENA was too preoccupied with her other films to do that. KAREENA is the one of the reasons the film was delayed. KAREENA is the one who CHOSE to do this film becuase she wanted a HIT WITH SAIF. It was his most ambitious project.

And why blame Saif for HER failure? W*F kinda logic is that? Kareena's not a nanni kaaki is she? She has her own head, can make her own decisions. Saif didnt frikkin force her to do Agent Vinod. Chances are, she herself was excited to be a part of it.

Hold her responsible for her own decisions, why are you blaming SAIF? 🤪

but ur post, even better.spot on! guess what, it is going to be deepika for ram leela. yes bhansali can do wonders with her. she is tall, elegant, graceful, can sure dance...i loved her in oso.

but sandy..i really wanted to see kareena and bhansali work together. this stage of her career i don't want her to work with some punit craps...if not bhansali than with yash chopra. see, every actresses should once work with these directors..sridevi and madhuri both worked with yash chopra. i also want to see vidya working with either bhansali or yash raj.

u so right with manisha and MD (hah..my all time favorite). manisha did bring that innocence which was so needed in khamoshi. that song..yeh dil keh raha hai..still lingers ...how beautifully presented. bhansali sure uses the music beautifully in his movies.

and i am also glad that bhansali took ash instead of kajol. yes kajol no doubt a better performer, but its ashs beauty and as her being a trained dancer, was needed in hum dil de chuke sanam. bhansali used these to fullest, and u can see the results. bhansali made sure even ashs hair pins were fitted perfectly.😆

and saawariya...tho it failed at boxoffice..but sonam has never looked this good in any of her movies. her make up, hair, dresses, teary eyes...beautiful...AND again credit goes to bhansali.

now tell me which actress doesn't want to work with bhansali.

Yes I read yesterday that DP is in the movie and I'm very happy (wonder if RS will get in trouble with SLB for letting the cat out the bag!). Although it was pretty obvious with all the time RS and DP were spending together and the rumours of DP adjusting her dates etc. but yeah very very pleased. I know as a Kareena fan you really wanted her to be Leela but who knows what the future holds, they might still work with each other and that film could be THE film of her career. After all she will be working till she's 90...apparently 😉

See problem is despite being so talented Kareena makes very bad career choices, right from KHNH to RL. The films she should accept she rejects and visa versa. She has no luck compared to Katrina who has got to be THE luckiest actress in the history of Hindi film cinema. If someone had told me 5 yrs back that Katrina would be in a Yash Raj film opposite SRK directed by the man Yash Chopra himself, I would've laughed in their face but if the same was said about Kareena I would've accepted it. But if rumours of Kareena doing this south remake Arundhati (man that sounds like an amazing film) and Begum Sumru are true she will be in a completely different league to the rest of the actresses. In that sense yeah she might surpass the 90s actresses (not for me though 😉)

But I do know what you mean about wanting to see her in a Bhansali/Chopra film. Back in the 90's I also wanted MD to work with YC ' I was so excited when he signed her on for DTPH, but looked what happened, KK ended up stealing the show! 😭

Also just wanted to add had Kajol done HDDCS I think it would have been more performance oriented, more scenes to showcase her talent, I doubt there would have been a Nimbooda song as she's not a good dancer like Ash. ASH on the other hand is known more for her beauty so he used that to his advantage. I'm sure he's doing the same with RL, SLB is most probably 'tweaking' the script to accommodate DP, scenes to showcase her beauty, songs to showcase her dance skills etc ala ASH.
