@ Nishu - Shahrukh is just as popular as before. It's just that Salman Khan's popularity has gone up. He is indeed the flavour of the season. But just because he is getting more popular doesnt meant that other people are getting less popular :)

What about Karan Johar or his films for the NRI's?
Or films with so much western appeal like Anjaana Anjaani, LAH, Cocktail, BAH, IHLS, etc?

Well Bollywood is global thus global popularity counts as well..
It's not just about Box Office Solely in India..
Like Eraser said, I've lived my whole life in Canada, thus I'd go by the numbers here..

Maybe 20 yrs back the overseas desi population didn't matter...but not today...when millions and millions of Indians are living outside India...global popularity is as important as Indian popularity...this is the rteason...that the film makers these days make special efforts to make the movies more palatable for the overseas audience as well...

I think Salman has always been more popular than Amir. Amir is definitely the better actor but being more popular is something else altogether. With that said, I think SRK is more popular than both of them. Call me a biased SRK fan here..but, being recognized worldwide is far more praiseworthy than having a huge fanbase within India only (in Salman's case). Salman really is only mega famous in India..go outside of India and it's certainly a different scenario.

Exactly...just because of one mistake like Ra-one...people are undermining the popularity and star power of SRK...it was SRK's star power because of which a trash movie like RA-one crossed 100 crore...

Just because Salman's ruling the heart's of those who live in India, doesn't mean you can ignore the other's..
If currently films are being made for them, then at one point when people get sick and tired of this trend, we'll see where the popularity lasts.
