Riteish Deshmukh ready to donate his liver to dad Vilasrao

Tuesday, August 7, 2012,
10:11 [IST]
Chennai, Aug 7:

Bollywood actor Riteish
Deshmukh wants to donate a part of his liver to his ailing father Vilasrao Deshmukh
who is currently under
treatment in Global Hospital in Chennai.

Following the actor's
proposal, the doctors began examining whether tissues of the father and son match
or not. According to
transplant rules, the doctors can conduct liver
transplantation on
Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh only after an authorised
committee headed by the
Tamil Nadu director of
medical education gives
permission.

A doctor in Global Hospital has been quoted as saying, "We have not ruled out a cadaver transplant either. We
will put him on the wait-list. But that is only after he stabilises."

The 67-year-old former
Maharashtra Chief Minister and Union Heavy Industries Minister was taken to the Chennai hospital by a special
flight from Mumbai on
Monday, Aug 6. His health condition deteriorated and doctors on Tuesday said, "Deshmukh is
on life support. His condition is critical as he is suffering from a serious liver ailment and multiple organ failure." Earlier, a doctor in Mumbai was quoted as saying, "At
Breach Candy (Mumbai
hospital where Deshmukh
was earlier admitted), he was on dialysis for three days.

There was no improvement in his condition and ultimately he was put on life
support system." "Our information is that
Deshmukh had gone abroad for check-up on two to three occasions and there had been a marked improvement
in his condition," added the doctor.

Liver can get back to it's shape if you'ven even given your half liver to your loved one. I don't think it will help as his other organs has been failed.
